Top Pair for Ross

Level 28 : 60,000/120,000, 0 ante

Ben Ross raised under the gun and Christoph Kwon called from a couple of spots to his left.

The dealer spread a flop of {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Ross check-called a bet from Kwon.

The {10-Diamonds} hit the turn and both players quickly tapped the table to signal a check and the {4-Diamonds} landed on the river.

Ross led out for a bet and after about five seconds, Kwon made the call. Ross tabled {a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for top pair on the flop and the dealer shipped him the pot.

Ross Shows the Bluff

Level 28 : 60,000/120,000, 0 ante

In a multi-way pot, Joe McKeehen bet on the {10-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop and only Ben Ross called.

McKeehen checked the {9-Spades} turn, then called when Ross bet. The 2015 Main Event champ checked again when the river came {3-Spades}, and Ross kept up the pressure by putting out another bet.

McKeehen quickly folded and Ross showed {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for seven-high.

"Just wanted to bluff the champ," he said as he collected the pot.

Moncek Calls With Ace-High

Level 28 : 60,000/120,000, 0 ante

Nick Pupillo raised from under the gun, then called when Michael Moncek reraised in the cutoff. The flop came {6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Pupillo check-called a bet.

Both players checked the {4-Diamonds} turn before Pupillo led out on the {5-Spades} river. Moncek pondered the decision for a moment before committing the chips.

Pupillo flashed {q-}{j-} for a missed straight draw, and Moncek took the pot with {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for ace-high to deal another hit to the WSOP circuit grinder's stack.

Ross Takes a Chunk Out of Pupillo

Level 28 : 60,000/120,000, 0 ante
Ben Ross
Ben Ross

Ben Ross raised in middle position and Nick Pupillo three-bet on the button. The action quickly folded back around to Ross who made the call.

The dealer fanned a flop of {k-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} and Ross check-called a bet from Pupillo.

The {4-Clubs} paired the turn and Ross check-raised Pupillo's bet and Pupillo stuck around.

The {10-Spades} hit the river and Ross slammed his stack of greens across the line. Pupillo cut out his 120,000 and took a moment before making the call. Ross rolled over {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for the nut-flush and Pupillo mucked his hand.

Lee Markholt Eliminated in 9th Place ($10,701)

Level 28 : 60,000/120,000, 0 ante
Lee Markholt
Lee Markholt

On the first hand back from break, Lee Markholt raised from middle position and Michael Moncek called in the big blind.

The flop came {7-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Markholt bet. Moncek then raised enough to put Markholt all in, and Markholt committed his last 70,000.

Lee Markholt: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Michael Moncek: {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

Moncek had outflopped Markholt's jacks by hitting two pair. The turn came the {q-Spades} and Markholt began calling for another queen on the river to get a higher two pair.

Instead, the dealer turned over the {a-Clubs} and Markholt was eliminated in ninth place.

"Was like that all day," Markholt said as he wished the rest of the table luck.
