Schultz Cracks Soma's Kings to Double Up

Level 34 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Leo Soma opened from under the gun for 800,000. Action folded around to Thomas Schultz in the big blind. Schultz wasted little time before moving all in with 4,700,000 behind. Soma made the snap call.

Thomas Schultz: {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Leo Soma: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

"Good luck," Schultz remarked to Soma. As the dealer prepared to deal the flop, the two bumped fists, showing their respect for the other as players.

Schultz was going to need some help to stay alive in the tournament, and he got it in droves on the {7-Spades}{4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop, which gave him two pair, and making Soma's kings no good, for now.

"King! King! King!" could be heard from the rail, as Soma's vocal fanbase continued their unwavering support.

Their chants would go unfulfilled, however. The board finished out {9-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, leaving Schultz with the best hand, and the double up.

Derek Sudell Eliminated in 5th Place ($109,083)

Level 34 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Derek Sudell
Derek Sudell

Maximiliano Gallardo raised to 825,000 from the cutoff. Action folded to Derek Sudell, the big blind. After a moment or two, he moved all in with the effective stack of just under 6,000,000. Gallardo made the call.

Derek Sudell: {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Maximiliano Gallardo: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Sudell needed some help, but was drawing live. Not only did no help come on the {j-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop for Sudell, but Gallardo now had a flush draw to go along with his overpair, limiting Sudell's outs even further. When the {q-Clubs} hit on the turn, giving Gallardo a set, Sudell tapped the table to say good game to his opponents, as he prepared to leave. The {4-Hearts} river completed the board, cementing the pot for Gallardo.

Derek Sudell was sent to the rail in 5th place. He'll take home a cash of $109,083.

Ivan Zhechev Eliminated in 6th Place ($81,188)

Level 33 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Ivan Zhechev
Ivan Zhechev

Leo Soma opened to 600,000 from the cutoff. He received a single caller, Ivan Zhechev, in the big blind. The two went heads up to the flop.

On the {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop, Soma continued for 300,000. Zhechev called.

Soma fired again, now for 1,400,000 on the {8-Spades} turn. Zhechev again found the call.

On the {4-Hearts} river, Soma fired his biggest barrel yet, to the tune of 4,000,000. Zhechev considered his decision a bit. A call here would be for all his chips. He eventually found the call, seemingly more out of frustration than an expectation to take the pot.

Ivan Zhechev: {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Leo Soma: {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}

While Zhechev had connected with the flop, he had not done so as well as Soma, whose flopped set was good enough to take down the big pot.

Zhechev was eliminated in sixth place and will take home a cash of $81,188.
