Jensen Folds to Become Short

Level 17 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

After losing a hand to Mikita Badziakouski, Gregory Jensen was under the gun and raised to 200,000. Michael Moncek made it 650,000 out of the big blind. Jensen called to grow the pot.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Jensen bet 800,000 after a check, Moncek then raised all in to force Jensen to make a decision for his remaining amount of close to a million on the stone bubble.

Jensen used up three time banks before eventually sliding his cards into the muck as he became one of the shortest stacks following the hand.

Moncek Plays It Safely

Level 16 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Michael Moncek opened to 160,000 in the cutoff and Nick Petrangelo called from the small blind. The flop came {k-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {9-Diamonds} on the turn.

Petrangelo checked again and Moncek opted to see the {3-Spades} on the river for free. Petrangelo finally led out with a bet of 185,000 and Moncek quickly called. Petrangelo tabled {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} but Moncek flipped over {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for the better two pair.

"Checked on the turn?" Phil Ivey questioned after the hand. Petrangelo nodded to confirm and Ivey's eyes grew wide.

Petrangelo Burns Through Time

Level 16 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

The flop read {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades}. From the cutoff, Nick Petrangelo bet 100,000, Mikita Badziakouski check-raised from the big blind to 300,000, Petrangelo called.

The turn brought the {3-Diamonds} on board. Both players checked to the {5-Clubs} river. Badziakouski bet 1,000,000. Petrangelo went into the tank and used up four of his five remaining time extensions before eventually folding after two minutes and ten seconds.

Queen Dusts the Cowboy

Level 16 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

Aleksejs Ponakovs raised to 160,000 from under the gun. Dan Smith three-bet to 475,000 from the button. Ponakovs went into the tank and asked Smith how much he had behind, which was 1,800,000. He announced all in and Smith quickly called.

Dan Smith: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Aleksejs Ponakovs: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Smith was in a good position to grab a huge double. But the flop was his worst nightmare as it came {6-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} to pair up the lady. The turn was the {3-Hearts} and the river the {5-Hearts} to felt Smith and bring the field to the stone bubble while Ponakov surged up even higher to become a big stack in the span of a few hands.

Level 16 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

There was a three-way all in at table 144 and it was Jason Koon with the shortest stack of 1,610,000. Phil Ivey was all in for 1,630,000 and Gregory Jensen had both players covered.

Jason Koon: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Phil Ivey: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Gregory Jensen: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Ivey's pair of queens held on to eliminate Koon and nearly score himself a full triple-up in the process.

Ponakovs Binks the River to Double Up

Level 16 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Koray Aldemir raised it up from the cutoff and Aleksejs Ponakovs three-bet shoved all in for 1,760,000 on the button. The blinds folded and Aldemir called to put Ponakovs at risk.

Aleksejs Ponakovs: {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Koray Aldemir: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

The flop of {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds} left Aldemir in the lead with his ace-high. The {q-Diamonds} on the turn gave Ponakovs a few extra outs and the {k-Diamonds} on the river was what he needed to stay alive.

Shakerchi Takes Down Seiver

Level 15 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Talal Shakerchi opened to 125,000 in early position and Scott Seiver jammed all in for 520,000 on his left. The action folded back to Shakerchi who verified the count before making the call.

Scott Seiver: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Talal Shakerchi: {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The flop came {10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Shakerchi flopped a pair of tens to put Seiver on the ropes. The {8-Hearts} on the turn left Seiver with just a single out and the {10-Spades} on the river would end his tournament.
