The 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continues today and the most famous poker tournament in the world will soon commence at 11 a.m. local time.

The preeminent $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event World Championship will see both amateurs and pros battle it out on the felt in an attempt to ultimately become the last player with chips, earning the glory and title of WSOP Main Event Champion.

Last year, German pro Koray Aldemir defeated American amateur George Holmes in heads-up play to win $8,000,000 and the prized bracelet in a field of 6,650 players. Attendance has been impressive at the WSOP this summer and many have predicted an unprecedented Main Event turnout, yet only time will tell if the 2006 record of 8,773 players will be broken.

Each player today will start with 60,000 in tournament chips and each Day 1 will play five 120-minute levels. There will be a 20-minute break after Levels 1, 2, and 4, with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 3.

This is the first of four starting flights for Event #70: $10,000 WSOP Main Event 53rd No-Limit Hold'em Championship and late registration will remain available for seven levels, allowing players to late register through the first two levels of either Day 2. Players who bag today in Day 1a will return on Thursday, July 7, and combine with players who bag on Day 1b tomorrow, for Day 2 a+b. (View the complete structure sheet here.)

Over the next couple of weeks, the world will find out who will claim the prestigious bracelet and become immortalized as the first WSOP Main Event champion on the Las Vegas Strip. The final day of play is scheduled for July 16 when a winner will be crowned.
