The elite of the poker world and some deep-pocketed amateurs will help kick off the 2023 World Series of Poker when Event #2: $25,000 6-Handed No-Limit Holdem begins at 2 p.m. local time inside the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.

This event is a new addition to the WSOP schedule, so one lucky player will get to call themselves the inaugural champion by the end. In 2022, the high roller no-limit holdem events were won by a veritable whos who of poker superstars, including David Peters and Alex Foxen. A similar field featuring the top names in the game is expected today. Some of the players who have already signaled their intention to play include Daniel Negreanu, Darren Elias, Mike Matusow, 2021 Player of the Year Josh Arieh, 2013 Main Event champion Ryan Riess, and Ben Mintz.

Players begin the tournament with a starting stack of 150,000 and blinds at 1,000/1,000 with a 1,000 big blind ante. Day 1 consists of eight 60-minute levels with a 15-minute break after every two levels. Late registration will remain open until the start of Day 2 at noon Wednesday, with players allowed one reentry. This event will utilize a 30-second shot clock.

The year-long wait is over. The 2023 WSOP is finally here. Poker players from around the world will get a chance to add a coveted gold bracelet and cement their place in WSOP history. It all begins today and PokerNews will be following along and providing live updates and chip counts throughout the day.
