Bonomo, Shakerchi and Brewer Lead the Pack Going into Day 2
There will be at least 47 players returning for Day 2 of Event #23: $50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em (8-Handed). Day 1 saw a total of 111 entrants, already more than the 101 entrants this event attracted last year. More are expected to come with late registration being open until the start of play today.
Justin Bonomo leads the field going into Day 2 as the only player with more than two million chips, bagging an impressive 2,024,000 to end the day yesterday.
Not far behind Bonomo is Talal Shakerchi who ended Day 1 with 1,688,000. Chris Brewer rounds out the top 3 with 1,618,000. Both Brewer and Shakerchi will be seeking their first World Series of Poker gold bracelet win in this event while Bonomo is vying for his fourth. Other notables near the top of the leaderboard include Sam Soverel (1,450,000), Chance Kornuth (1,313,000) and Alex Foxen (1,236,000).
Action will begin at 12:00 p.m. today with the blinds resuming at 8,000/16,000 and a 16,000 big blind ante. Any player choosing to register before the start of play today will begin with a 300,000 starting stack worth just under 19 big blinds.
Levels will be 60 minutes in length with a 15-minute break after every two levels. There is a scheduled 60-minute dinner break after six levels of play and the day will conclude after ten levels. The winner will be crowned on Day 3 tomorrow, Sunday, June 11th, on the PokerGO live stream.
