Wang Loses It All to Velador in Two Hands; Engel Gets Very Short

Level 14 : Limits 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Jose Luis Velador
Jose Luis Velador

Jose Luis Velador raised and Yuri Dzivielevski reraised on the button. Yong Wang then made it four bets in the small blind and Johannes Becker called in the big blind, as did Velador and Dzivielevski. On the K?10?5? flop, Wang bet and Becker called, Velador raised and Dzivielevski folded while Wang and Becker stuck around.

That led them to the 7? turn on which Wang bet again with very few chips behind. Becker folded and Velador was in the tank. "If I bust you, I give you a fair percent of the cash and if you bust me, you give me three per cent?!" Wang suggested as both players were nearly even in chips. Velador called regardless and they only exposed them when the 9? fell on the river.

Velador tabled his K?Q?J?8? for a flush and that beat Wong's A?K?10?2?, who was left with just 5,000 in chips.

One hand later, Wang was all-in before the flop and another four-way pot unfolded with Becker, Velador and Ari Engel involved. Engle bet the 10?8?5? flop and earned calls from Becker and Velador. The 8? turn was checked to Engel, who bet and Becker folded. Velador tank-called and led the Q? on the river.

That sent Engel deep into the tank. Wang had already paid his massage therapist and gathered his belongings, then walked away from the table to give Velador a fist bump with the words "good luck" on his way out, leaving several players at the table puzzled.

Engel was still in the tank beyond that for nearly four minutes before he eventually called with a shorter stack behind.

Velador revealed Q?Q?J?5? for queens full of eights, Engel was scooped with the A?10?9?3? and the K?9?6?2? of Wang were shown as per all-in showdown rule.

Barbero Celebrates a Scoop

Level 14 : Limits 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Nacho Barbero
Nacho Barbero

Having defended out of the blinds against a raise by Nacho Barbero, Christopher Stephan and Robert Yass check-called bets on the K?Q?7? flop and 8? turn. They both checked the 3? on the river and Barbero bet again.

Only Stephen called while Yass folded and Barbero jumped out of his chair in excitement. "Finally I scoop a pot after getting scooped all day!" he exclaimed as he exposed his A?Q?Q?4? for a set of queens and second nut low.

"What if he shows you ace-deuce?" another player remarked and Barbero instantly replied: "I bet you a million dollars he doesn't have ace-deuce." That bet was not verbally accepted but Barbero's read was right, as Stephan tossed the cards into the muck.

More for Seidel as the Eliminations Keep Coming

Level 14 : Limits 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

In three-way action, Erik Seidel bet all the way on a board of 8?4?3?Q?6?. Craig Chait folded on the river while Steve Chanthabouasy reluctantly called and Seidel then tabled his A?Q?J?5? for a queen-high flush and six-low. That was good enough for the scoop as Chanthabouasy briefly exposed an inferior flush and low with the 5?5?2?Xx.

After the hand was over, Brad Ruben was moved over to table 138 to balance as Van Law and Benjamin Gold had been eliminated. Mike Gorodinsky also lost the last of his short stack moments later and that reduced the field to the last 44 hopefuls.

Shack-Harris Eliminated by Stephan and Barbero

Brandon Shack-Harris
Brandon Shack-Harris

A short-stacked Brandon Shack-Harris was all-in after the J?6?5? flop for 18,000 and a side pot played out between Christopher Stephan and Nacho Barbero. They continued to get bets in after the 3? turn and Q? river as the cards were exposed.

Shack-Harris' A?Q?8?4? for a pair of queens and second nut low was scooped, as Stephan's A?J?4?2? had a straight and nut low. Barbero chopped the low with A?8?3?2? as Stephan won most of the chips throughout the hand.

Becker Scoops Multi-Way Pot, Eliminates Hellmuth

Level 13 : Limits 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

The action was four ways to the flop between Connor Drinan, Yong Wang, Johannes Becker and Phil Hellmuth, with Hellmuth all-in before the flop.

Becker would control the action as both Drinan and Wang check-called three streets worth of bets from Becker to create a side pot, with a final board of 6?Q?8?9?8?.

Hellmuth: K?Q?J?10?
Drinan: A?6?4?2?
Wang: A?5?5?2?
Becker: K?K?J?J?

No low hand was possible, so Becker would win a sizeable pot with a king-high flush, eliminating the sixteen-time bracelet winner.

Zack Misreads Hand, Left Short

Level 12 : Limits 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Daniel Zack
Daniel Zack

Jason Berilgen raised from middle position and was three-bet by Daniel Zack in late position. Berilgen called and the players saw a flop of K?K?10?.

Berilgen check-called a bet from Zack and the dealer turned the 10?. Berilgen check-called again and it was off to the 5? river, where Berilgen would this time check-raise a bet from Zack.

Zack put in the call and announced, "full house," but quickly took it back. "Oh, wait, no, I don't have it, I thought I did," said Zack who then tabled A?K?8?3? for trip kings. It would not be good enough as Berilgen showed A?10?6?5? for a rivered full house, leaving Zack low on chips.

Seidel Benefits the Most Against Yockey and Becker

Level 12 : Limits 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

Picking up the action on the J?7?5?8? turn, Johannes Becker checked in the small blind. Bryce Yockey bet from under the fun and was called by Erik Seidel on the button, Becker also stuck around. That led them to the 4? river on which Becker checked, Yockey bet and Seidel raised to earn calls from both opponents.

Seidel tabled his A?6?5?2? for an eight-high straight and the nut low. Becker's A?J?9?2? and Yockey's A?7?4?2? earned just one third of the low pot. "I think I fucked this up," Yockey concluded.

Julien Martini raised and called a three-bet by James Obst in the small blind, who then bet each street of the 10?8?6?7?6? board. Martini called the first two bets rather swiftly before tank-calling the final bet for the last of his chips.

Obst tabled the A?10?9?2? for tens up and the nut low, which beat the A?Q?J?3? of Martini.
