Today marks Day 1 of Event #33: $10,000 Razz Championship at the 2023 World Series of Poker. Players at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas will be attempting to make the lowest possible hand in this stud-game variant where straights and flushes do not matter.

Last year's Razz Championship was a star-studded affair that saw numerous bracelet winners finish in the Top 20, including Yueqi Zhu (3rd), Koray Aldemir (4th), Max Pescatori (6th), Brian Hastings (7th), Brandon Shack-Harris (8th), and Joao Vieira (10th). Rising above them all was Julien Martini, taking down $328,906 and his fourth WSOP bracelet after defeating Hal Rotholz in heads-up play.

Other players expected to play include multiple-time razz bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth as well as David "ODB" Baker, who won Event #24: $1,500 Razz less than 48 hours ago. He looks to repeat Chad Eveslage's feat of taking down the $1,500 variant of a tournament prior to capturing the $10,000 championship event.

Turnout for this event is expected to be high. The $1,500 Razz event saw last year's field of 383 increase to 586, and with many events having increased attendance, it will be interesting to see if this year's event can improve on last year's 139-entrant figure.

Players will begin the tournament with 60,000 chips with a 100 ante, 200 bring in, 500 completion, and limits of 500-1,000. Players will play six 40-minute levels followed by four 60-minute ones, and late registration will be open until the start of Day 2.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for full coverage of this event as well as all WSOP bracelet events.
