Event #58: $3,000 Limit Hold'em - Six Handed Kicks Off Today
It's that time of the 2023 World Series of Poker when a little old-school Limit Hold'em shows up on the schedule. Today, Event #58: $3,000 Limit Hold'em Six Handed kicks off and will take place over the next three days at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. In what used to be the most popular version of poker back in the day, has since faded out over the years but still creates a special buzz among some of the players.
Last year, this event attracted a total of 213 entries which created a prize pool of over $568,000. Jeremy Ausmus conquered the field of limit hold'em players, outlasting a tough Michael Rocco in heads-up play. At the time, it was the third WSOP gold bracelet for Ausmus but he has since gone on to win three more online bracelets. Ausmus also added another final table to his resume earlier this year in the $100,000 High Roller event where he pocketed $619,919 for fifth place.
This event will often attract many of the big names from the mixed games events who like to mix it up with some limit hold'em. Last year, the final table included the likes of Gabriel Ramos, Mike Lancaster, and Andrew "AJ" Kelsall. Shaun Deeb finished just shy of that mark in eighth place.
The cards are scheduled to go in the air at 2 p.m. local time with ten 60-minute levels on tap for Day 1. Each player will begin with a starting stack of 40,000 chips and the blinds will kick off at 200/300 with the limits at 300/600. There will be a 15-minute break after every two levels and no dinner break is scheduled for the opening day.
Late registration will remain open for eight levels, which is at approximately 11 p.m. The restart for Day 2 will be at 1 p.m. Monday and the WSOP gold bracelet will be handed out at the end of Day 3 Tuesday.
