Shao Flops Broadway to Take Down Large Pot
The start of Level 8 brought aggressive play at Table 44, where Bob Shao found himself in the small blind and involved in four-way action.
A player in late position, the button and the small blind called before the flop, but the player in the big blind raised, which resulted in calls from Shao and the other two players.
The flop produced Q?A?J?, and fireworks for an action board.
Shao checked, and the big blind made a bet, which resulted in the player in late position to fold and the player on the button to call. With action back to Shao, he elected to make a check-raise bet, which the big blind re-raised and the button flatted. Shao, however, re-raised the action and the players in the big blind and button flatted.
The turn brought 9?, and Shao led into the two players with a bet, which drew calls. The J? fell on the river to pair the board, and all three players checked.
“I’ve got top two,” the player in the big blind said as he tabled A?Q?.
Shao, however, quietly turned over K?10? for Broadway and the winning hand. The player on the button mucked his hand, and the dealer pushed the big pot to Shao.
