Today marks Day 1 of Event #80: $25,000 H.O.R.S.E. High Roller at the 2023 World Series of Poker. Mixed-game aficianados will descend upon Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas for this High Roller event, which kicks off at 2 p.m. local time.

This event returns for its second running after not being on the schedule last year. In 2021, Jesse Klein finished atop the 78-entrant field to win $552,182 and his first WSOP gold bracelet. Klein, who was unknown on the worldwide scene at the time of his victory, beat out a stacked final table. Matt Glantz (9th), Phil Hellmuth (6th), Chad Eveslage (4th), and David Benyamine (3rd) were among those to fall before Klein defeated Benny Glaser heads up to take down the title.

It remains to be seen just who will enter, as this tournament will be running alongside the Main Event. Unlike 2021's event, which took place at the beginning of the schedule, this year's event could see players buying in after being eliminated from the World Championship. Unlike the Main Event, there are zero no-limit games played in H.O.R.S.E. Players will alternate between Limit Hold'em, Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, Razz, Seven Card Stud, and Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better, with the game changing every eight hands.

Players will begin the tournament with 150,000 chips. For stud games, action will begin with a 300 ante, 500 bring in, 1,500 completion, and limits of 1,500-3,000. In flop games, action begins with blinds of 800-1,500 and limits of 1,500-3,000. Today's play will consist of ten 60-minute levels with a 15-minute break every other level. Players are allowed one re-entry, and late registration will be open until the beginning of Day 2 on Tuesday, July 11th.
