Jamasi Gets Redemption
The first hand PokerNews walked up on at Isaac Haxton's table involved a large pot with over 32,000 in the middle on a heads-up river of 10?3?K?K?7?. Claudia Crawford-Stein checked to her opponent, Farhad Jamasi, who checked back.
"I got nothing," Crawford-Stein admitted as she tabled A?8? for ace-high.
"Yeah that's good," Jamasi replied as he showed Q?J? for a missed straight draw and Crawford-Stein was shipped the pot.
When asked how the pot got so large, she said that Haxton had opened, Jamasi three-bet, then she four-bet and Jamasi called. Then she check-raised the flop and then action checked through the river.
Then the very next hand, the following happened:
After an open and a call multi-way, five players went to a flop of 3?10?8?. The early position player led out for 2,200 and everyone made the call to see the 9? on the turn. The action then checked through to Jamasi in late position who then bet out 10,500. The early position player called while two players got out of the way, but then Peter Placey raised it up to 25,000 and the action was back on Jamasi.
Jamasi moved all in for a total of 42,900 and the early position tanked for a good while before he made the fold. Placey went into the tank himself to ponder the 17,900 raise he was facing. After a minute or so, he also decided to make the lay-down, at which point Jamasi showed the nuts with Q?J?, true redemption for the previous hand.
