Hawkins Playing Mind Games Nearing End of Night
The cutoff opened to 1,400 and Maurice Hawkins defended the big blind.
"We have the same hand," said Hawkins.
"Should we just chop it now then?" Responded the cutoff.
The dealer brought out the A?J?J? flop and Hawkins checked.
"I checked, he checks, go to to the turn," Hawkins continued.
However, the cutoff did not check as he tossed a bet of 1,000 across the line. Hawkins called.
The Q? hit the turn and Hawkins checked again while saying, "we have the same hand, free river." This time his opponent checked back.
The 9? fell on the river and Hawkins led for 3,300.
"Now we play the game of do you believe me."
After a few moments, it seemed the cutoff did believe him as he tossed his cards into the muck.
Hawkins showed one of his cards, tabling the J? and mucked the other.
