2023 World Series of Poker
With some 71,000 in the middle to the J?J?3?10?3? river, the player in the big blind bet 50,000 with as many chips behind. Shem Goltz in the cutoff then pushed all-in and his opponent was seemingly struck. It took some 30 seconds for the big blind to call with A?J? for jacks full of treys but Goltz had that beat with the J?10?.
"I was afraid of that ... I almost folded," the defeated opponent said while another player chimed in with "it is a cursed seat", indicating that several players had already been eliminated from there.
They walked through the hand for several minutes and Wesley Fei concluded that a check-call would have been better and it was overplayed.

If you bagged Day 1 and want to know what the final table players had last year at this stage, check out this post below.
It's a reminder that anything can happen at this stage --- 2022 World Champion Espen Jorstad famously bagged only 17,600 on Day 1 before going on a tear.
