No Gold for Mr. Gold

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jamie Gold, Main Event, Suffle Up And Deal, Horseshoe Feature Table
Jamie Gold, Main Event, Suffle Up And Deal, Horseshoe Feature Table

Tracy Nguyen raised it up in early position and Jamie Gold shipped all in for just over 200,000 in the hijack. Hermilo Garzavillareal reshoved all in from the cutoff as the biggest stack at the table. The rest of the table folded including Nguyen and the two remaining hands were tabled.

Jamie Gold: AxJx
Hermilo Garzavillareal: AxKx

The flop came KxQx4x to give Garzavillareal a pair of kings but Gold picked up a straight draw. The 8x and 9x runout bricked out for Gold and he made his way to the payout desk, not quite earning the $12,000,000 that he did back in 2006.

Mercier Put to The Test by Liu

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

In a heads-up pot with roughly 50,000 in the middle on a flop showing 5?3?2?, Jason Mercier checked from the big blind to Jason Liu on the button who bet out 25,000. Mercier put in a check-raise to 67,000 and Liu came along.

The 2? hit the turn and Mercier kept up the aggression with a bet of 61,000. Liu took a moment before putting in a stack of 25,000 chips, covering the 160,000 behind for Mercier, who went deep in the tank.

After close to five minutes of thought, a player at the table called the clock and Mercier was given 30 seconds to act. As the clock ticked down, Mercier eventually tossed his cards into the muck and the pot was shipped to Liu.

"Four-seven of spades?" asked another player at the table who was curious of Mercier's holding.

"Something like that," replied Mercier.

Lonis Prevails in Raising War

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

A player opened to 21,000 from the cutoff before Jesse Lonis three-bet to 82,000 out of the small blind. The big blind got out of the way to send the action back to the cutoff player who, after some thought, came back over the top for 200,000. After verifying the bet total, Lonis re-checked his cards before announcing a five-bet to 390,000. His opponent gave it some thought but ultimately decided to pick a better spot and tossed his cards away. Lonis, meanwhile, flashed AxQx before raking in a sizable preflop pot that sees him eclipse the 1,000,000 mark.
