Koon Flops a Set and Busts

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

Carlos Leiva opened to 55,000 from middle position before Jason Koon made it 120,000 from the button. Tim van Loo went into the tank from the big blind before folding. Leiva put Koon all in and the latter called off his stack of 530,000.

Jason Koon: K?K?
Carlos Leiva: 10?10?

Koon was way ahead and improved to a set on the A?K?Q? flop, leaving his opponent drawing to Broadway or runner-runner quads.

The 8? turn was a brick, but the J? river completed Leiva's straight and Koon's Main Event journey came to an end.

Anthony Kennedy opened to 60,000 from early position and received calls from Christopher Kimmel in the hijack and Dario Sammartino in the big blind.

The turn came the 7? and Kennedy moved all in, covering Sammartino's remaining stack of just under 1,100,000. Sammartino quickly made the fold and Kennedy received a decent pot.

Andrew Hulme
Andrew Hulme

The flop read J?7?5?, and there was about 170,000 in the middle. Andrew Hulme fired a bet of 55,000, and Benjamin Grise thought about it for 20 seconds before making the call in position.

The 2? fell on the turn and Hulme continued for 115,000. Grise mucked his hand and the dealer pushed the pot to Hulme.

"No Bluff" For Sebesfi

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

David Sebesfi and Thupten Thondup were heads-up on a 10?4?Q? flop when Sebesfi, in the cutoff, bet 55,000 and Thondup called out of the big blind.

The turn came the 3? and Thondup checked over to Sebesfi, who fired out another 180,000. Thondup again called as the K? fell on the river.

Sebesfi then slid forward a stack of purple 100,000 chips, putting Thondup all in. Thondup, with around 350,000 remaining, tanked for about a minute before mucking.

"Show the bluff," a tablemate said to Sebesfi as he took the pot.

"No bluff," Sebesfi replied.

Kyte check-raised to 210,000 after Tang bet 75,000 on the Q?9?7? flop. The latter quickly folded and the next hand began.

Scroggins Doubles, Evens Stacks With Schneider

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Eric Schneider opened for 60,000 from middle position before Daniel Scroggins three-bet all in for 685,000 from the small blind. The big blind folded and Schneider asked for a count.

Once he received the exact number, he made the call as covering stack and the cards went on their backs.

Daniel Scroggins: A?K?
Eric Schneider: K?Q?

Shneider let out a big sigh and the J?3?A?Q?8? runout would not improve his mood. His pair of queens was inferior to Scroggins' pair of aces, and the players now played roughly the same stack.

Villa Makes a Wild Hero Call

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Nick Marchington opened to 50,000 in the hijack and Alexander Villa called from the small blind. The flop came 10?7?2? and Villa check-called a bet from Marchington.

The 2? paired the board on the turn and Villa led out with a bet of 50,000. Marchington raised to 200,000 and Villa stuck around for the 9? on the river. Villa checked this time and Marchington jammed all in, putting Villa to the test for his remaining 935,000. Villa gave it some thought before making the call and the cards were tabled which shocked the table.

Marchington rolled over K?6? for complete air while Villa showed 5?5? for the lone pair to earn a double up.

"What the f*** am I watching?" Maurice Hawkins exclaimed as he stood up from his chair. "I've got the popcorn ready!"
