Li Gets Sucked Out of the Tournament

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

In an earlier post, it was mentioned that Henry Li had been eliminated from the Main Event. He was kind enough to stop by the PokerNews desk to tell how it had happened.

Charles Melton raised to 80,000 from the button and Li three-bet jammed 840,000 from the small blind. The big blind got out of the way and Melton made the call.

Henry Li: 10?10?
Charles Melton: 8x8x

The flop remained clean for Li with A?K?9?, but the turn spelled disaster when the 8? gave Melton a set. No ten arrived on the K? river and Li was ousted from the tournament.

To add some salt to the wound, someone mentioned they had folded an eight preflop, making Li's bad beat a pure one-outer.

Diego Ramos
Diego Ramos

Kevin Gimble was all in for 650,000 from under the gun and Diego Ramos called in middle position.

Kevin Gimble: A?8?
Diego Ramos: K?Q?

Ramos picked up a straight draw on the 9?10?2? flop, but Gimble remained in front following the 6? turn. The river, though, brought the J? and Ramos completed his straight to send Gimble to the payout desk.

Good Call for Bonacci

Frank Bonacci
Frank Bonacci

Frank Bonacci raised 90,000 in the hijack and Dan Wilson came along in the big blind.

The A?A?J? flop hit the felt, and Wilson check-called a bet of 55,000.

The 7? fell on the turn and both players checked to the 8? river. Wilson led for 225,000 and Bonacci made the call. Wilson tabled a busted straight draw with Q?10?, and Bonacci showed 2?2? to drag the pot.

Big Blind Special for Dea

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Charlie Chiu opened to 85,000 from under the gun and was called by Pei Li from the hijack. Charles He and Andrew Dea called from the blinds.

Action checked to Li on the 8?2?2? flop, who bet 100,000. He folded before Dea made it 275,000. Chiu returned his cards to the dealer and Li called.

Li then called bets of 250,000 and 400,000 on the Q? turn and 3? river.

Dea turned over 5?2? for trip deuces and Li mucked.

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

On the turn of Q?9?7?5?, Aaron Speer checked to Artem Metaladi who put in a bet of 280,000 into the pot of a little more than 400,000. Speer check-raised all-in for 870,000, putting Metalidi in the tank. After about three and a half minutes, Metalidi made the call.

Aaron Speer: 9?5?
Artem Metalidi: K?Q?

Speer turned two pair against Metalidi's top pair and was able to hold as the J? rolled off on the river.

Paper Wasted in the Silver Section

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Chris Lee opened to 80,000 from the hijack and the cutoff called before Matthias Auer three-bet to 285,000 on the button.

Action got back to Lee and he three-bet jammed a stack of around 2,600,000 to bring a quick fold from the hijack as Auer squirmed in his chair. Auer clearly didn't like the situation and put in a crying call as he quickly flipped his hand face-up as if ripping off a Band-Aid.

Chris Lee: A?K?
Matthias Auer: A?K?

Both players had ace-king and there were no sweats as the board ran out 10?J?7?K?J? for the two to chop the pot.

"Come on, Seat 1, you're never folding ace-king," a table mate teased Auer as others were ready to move onto the next hand.

"Four guys just wasted a page of paper," Chris Hak said after the anticlimactic ending to the hand that had the attention of several reporters and cameramen.

Jaka Whiffs Against Boghean

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

Heads-up on a flop of 5?3?3?, Andrei Boghean bet 300,000 from the button before Faraz Jaka, in the hijack, raised to 700,000.

Boghean spent a few moments counting out his stack before reraising to 1,300,000. It was then Jaka's time to tank before he announced he was all in. Boghean instantly flung in a chip to signify a call.

Faraz Jaka: 8?7?
Andrei Boghean: K?K?

Jaka was looking to complete his flush draw against Boghean's kings. The 8? turn gave him additional outs, but Jaka missed everything on the J? river. The stacks were counted down and Boghean narrowly had Jaka's remaining 1,800,000 covered to send him to the rail.
