Hawkins Takes Out Popal, To His Surprise

Level 29 : Blinds 100,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Ahmad Popal was all in for 2,450,000 from early position and up against Maurice Hawkins in the hijack.

Ahmad Popal: A?K?
Maurice Hawkins: Q?Q?

The 3?2?5? flop gave Popal a straight draw, while the J? fell on the turn.

"Oh, that's a jack," Hawkins said upon seeing a paint card. The 3? came on the river and Hawkins' queens stayed in front to send Popal to the rail.

"I thought the jack was a king," Hawkins said as he ran over to exchange hi-fives with his rail.

Three Knockouts in Quick Succession On Table 605

Level 29 : Blinds 100,000/150,000, 150,000 ante
John Duthie
John Duthie

Ludovic Geilich got his chips in via preflop flip with A?K? against the 6?6? of Anirban Das, who made a straight on the 7?5?3?4?4? board.

"I will see you there in a minute," John Duthie joked as he was bound to be in the big blind two hands later.

Das then left Clemen Deng on fumes one hand later with queens before Duthie was in the big blind.

Deng called all in from under the gun and Daniel Scroggins raised to 350,000 on the button.

"I don't need to look," Duthie said and called all in as he had paid the big blind ante already.

John Duthie: Q?3?
Clemen Deng: J?4?
Daniel Scroggins: Q?J?

"I am not sure if I should say this, but I folded three-four," Das said.

The board ran out A?8?6?K?2? and Scroggins scored a double knockout for a small pot with queen-jack high.

Level 30 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Picking up the action partway through the hand, Spencer Taylor on the button was all in and at risk against Nicholas Gerrity in the big blind.

Spencer Taylor: 4?4?
Nicholas Gerrity: A?9?

Taylor would need to win a race to survive and did remain ahead on the J?Q?K? flop. The A? turn, however, left him on the brink, needing to find a ten for a chop or a four for the outright win. No miracle comeback materialized, with the Q? river completing the board to send Taylor out of the tournament.
