Cruel Cooler Ends Silver's Run

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Nate Silver
Nate Silver

Henry Chan raised to 250,000 from the hijack and was called by both Nate Silver in the cutoff and big blind Tony Dunst.

The flop came 6?7?2? and action checked to Silver, who bet 330,000. Dunst folded 5?5?, but Chan raised to 1,400,000. Silver then reraised all in for 5,165,000 and Chan snap-called, having Silver barely covered.

Nate Silver: 6?6?
Henry Chan: 7?7?

The FiveThirtyEight founder and pollster understood the sheer improbability of the cooler he had just run into as Chan showed him a higher set.

Silver shot back in his chair as the board ran out Q?3?, sending him to the rail in brutal fashion.

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Alec Torelli raised it up on the button and Jose Aguilera defended from the big blind. The flop came K?7?7? and Aguilera check-called a bet of 150,000 from Torelli.

The turn brought the 6? and Aguilera checked again. Torelli tossed in a bet of 675,000 and Aguilera stuck around to see the 2? on the river. Aguilera checked for the third time and Torelli unleashed a third barrel of 1,050,000. Aguilera gave it some thought but opted to lay his hand down.

Berrio Hits a Barrier on the River

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Adam Walton opened to 240,000 from middle position and Mikael Berrio called out of the big blind.

Berrio checked on the 5?5?K? flop and Walton continued for 140,000. Berrio called. Berrio check-called again on the 2? turn as Walton sized up to 425,000.

The J? river completed the board and Berrio opted to lead out for a small 275,000. Walton quickly raised to 2,200,000 to send Berrio into the tank.

"Do you want me to call?" asked Berrio. "I've got a pretty big hand."

After a few minutes, Berrio folded.

Popal Picks Up Queens to Double

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Ahmad Popal got his last 990,000 in the middle from the button and was up against Sam Stein in middle position.

Ahmad Popal: Q?Q?
Sam Stein: 9?9?

Stein didn't find any help on the 10?2?3? flop, while the Q? turn left him drawing dead as Popal made top set. The inconsequential river was the 7? and Popal doubled up.

Hutchison Flips Cossio-Ruiz to the Rail

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

David Cossio-Ruiz moved his last 960,000 into the middle from early position as the rest of the table folded around to Dean Hutchison, who called from under the gun.

David Cossio-Ruiz: 9?9?
Dean Hutchison: K?10?

Hutchison spiked a pair on the 10?4?7? flop to take the lead, and Cossio-Ruiz couldn't catch any miracles on the Q? turn or 4? river as he became the latest to hit the rail.

Teltscher Cracks Aces to Double

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Toby Lewis opened to 250,000 from the cutoff before Mark Teltscher jammed for 2,600,000 from the small blind. Joe Ghio just called from the big blind and Lewis released his hand.

Mark Teltscher: A?9?
Joe Ghio: A?A?

Teltscher was in rough shape but had a dose of hope after pairing up on the 10?9?6? flop. The 5? turn saw his equity increase as he picked up a flush draw. The table, minus Ghio, erupted when the 2? river completed Teltscher's flush for the ace-cracking double up.

Lamanna Four-Bets Light

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Sam Stein raised to 250,000 from early position with K?J? and Bryan Obregon three-bet to 675,000 out of middle position with 10?10?. Pierpaola Lamanna, in the small blind, four-bet with A?3? to 1,900,000 and only Obregon called.

The A?7?2? flop gave Lamanna top pair and the lead, and he checked over to Obregon. Obregon fired out 1,600,000 and Lamanna called.

Both players checked down the Q? turn and 4? river and Lamanna took down the pot.

Blind vs. Blind Action

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

At one table, Dean Hutchison raised to 380,000 from the small blind and Spencer Taylor called from the big blind. The flop came Q?J?4? and Hutchison continued with a bet of 300,000. Taylor called and the 2? landed on the turn. Hutchison checked this time and then folded to a bet of 800,000 from Taylor.

Next door, Daniel Vampan limped in from the small blind and Joshua Payne raised to 400,000 in the big blind. Vampan called and the dealer fanned the flop of 5?4?3?.

Vampan checked to Payne, who bet 425,000, and Vampan called. The 5? on the turn paired the board and both players checked to see the J? on the river. Two more checks and Vampan turned over J?6? for a rivered two pair to scoop the pot.

Torelli Celebrates with a Set of Crabs

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Alec Torelli
Alec Torelli

Jose Aguilera opened to 250,000 in early position and Zachary Hall called from the next seat before Alec Torelli came along from the big blind.

Torelli and Aguilera checked on the 3?6?J? flop and Hall bet 175,000. Torelli check-raised to 700,000 and Aguilera folded as Hall called.

Torelli then bet 1,600,000 on the 8? turn and Hall took some time before putting out a stack of 500,000-chips to raise Torelli all in. Torelli quickly called with a stack of 4,785,000.

Alec Torelli: 3?3?
Zachary Hall: 5?5?

"I didn't think you had that," Hall said glumly after seeing Torelli was far ahead with a set.

The 7? bricked off on the river to avoid a gross two-outer and Torelli did a lap and clutched his heart after securing the big double-up through the start-of-day chip leader.
