Tamanini Scores a Double and More

Level 34 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante
Ryan Tamanini
Ryan Tamanini

Ryan Tamanini raised to 1,000,000 and Adam Walton called from the small blind before Anirban Das came along from the big blind.

The flop was 3?J?7? and all three players checked to get to the 2? on the turn.

Walton fired 2,175,000 on the turn and both Das and Tamanini called to see 7? on the river. Walton changed gears with a check and Das put out 7,775,000. Tamanini gave it a moment of thought before he committed his last 6,425,000 and Walton scurried out of the way. Das turned over A?7? for three sevens, but Tamanini tabled J?J? to secure the big pot with jacks full of sevens.

Jan-Peter Jachtmann raised to 1,100,000 in early position and Jack O'Neill called from the small blind. The flop came K?K?2? and O'Neill check-called a bet of 1,000,000 from Jachtmann.

The turn was the 10? and O'Neill checked again. Jachtmann fired out another bet of 2,500,000 and O'Neill stuck around for the 5? on the river. O'Neill checked for the third time and Jachtmann reached back for a bet of 8,500,000. O'Neill went into the tank for over four minutes and finally let his hand go.

Level 34 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Anirban Das raised to 1,000,000 and collected the blinds and big blind ante.

Das then raised to 1,000,000 once more and Adam Walton defended his big blind to see the A?A?2? flop on which Walton checked. Das bet 725,000 only to fold to a check-raise for 1,725,000 by Walton.

Daniel Holzner then min-raised from under the gun and Das came along in the big blind. They checked the 9?8?6? flop and Das check-called the 8? turn for 800,000. Both checked the 5? river and Das revealed the A?5?, Holzner won the pot with the J?9?.

Joshi's Turn for a Double

Level 34 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Jack O'Neill raised to 1,000,000 in the cutoff and Sachin Joshi shipped all in for 7,600,000 on the button. The blinds folded and O'Neill quickly called to put Joshi at risk.

Sachin Joshi: A?K?
Jack O'Neill: A?Q?

The flop came K?10?5? to give Joshi a pair of kings but O'Neill picked up a straight draw. The 6? on the turn narrowed his outs and the 5? on the river secured the double for Joshi.

Holzner Doubles Through Tamanini

Level 34 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante
Daniel Holzner
Daniel Holzner

Ryan Tamanini opened the action with a raise to 1,000,000 from under the gun. He earned folds all the way to the big blind, which happened to be Daniel Holzner. The Italian glanced over at his opponent and the tournament clock before he eventually three-bet to 3,200,000 for around a quarter of his stack.

Tamanini only wasted a few seconds before moving all-in and Holzner double-checked his stack behind. Holzner glanced back a few times to the prize pool information that scrolled through the screens and then called all-in.

Daniel Holzner: A?K?
Ryan Tamanini: Q?Q?

Holzner took the lead on the K?J?4? flop and the 10? turn then brought a sweat. Nothing changed with the 3? river and Holzner doubled for 12,300,000 and cut Tamanini's stack into more than half.

Do You Know Which Poker Player Just Set the Record of Cashing Seven Consecutive Live WSOP Main Events?

Level 34 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

The 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) was the largest in history with 10,043 players, and for one player it proved to be a record-extending affair. From 2010-14, poker pro Ronnie Bardah cashed the WSOP Main Event a record five times, which was recognized on various ESPN broadcasts. However, that record seems to have fallen by the wayside as first brought to light by @TARKPOKER on Twitter.

You see, one player has managed to cash the WSOP Main Event, at least the live version, a record seven consecutive times (2016-23). The pandemic threw a monkey wrench into things in 2020 with the WSOP concocting an online-live hybrid Main Event, so technically this player didn’t cash every year. However, he has cashed the last seven live Main Events, an unrivaled accomplishment.
