The $25K Fantasy league is off to a hot start with seven of the 19 teams over 100 points as of June 4. Most of those were thanks to a handful of draftees hitting field bonuses in Event #5: $1,000 Mystery Millions, which attracted 18,409 entrants and became the sixth-largest poker tournament of all time.
PokerNews has been tracking $25K Fantasy players in our live updates, and has even made it simple to follow the action by tagging all players with a $25K Fantasy badge. That allows you to utilize our chip count filter option to follow only those players (just tick the $25K Fantasy badge); what’s more, each blog will have a “$25K Fantasy” tab that if you click all you will see are hands played by $25K Fantasy players.
As a result, we can capture some of the biggest, best, and most game-changing hands involving the $25K Fantasy roster. Here are five from the first week of action in the 2024 WSOP.
Andreas Frohli opened to 325,000 from the button and Jiyang Gan made a pot-sized raise to 1,135,000. Frohli made the call.
The rest of the chips quickly got in the middle on the 10?7?6? flop with Gan having about 1,400,000 behind and Frohli covering him.
Jiyang Gan: A?10?4?3?
Andreas Frohli: A?5?2?2?
The rest of the board ran out Q?9?. No low was possible and Gan had gone runner runner to make the nut-flush and take the pot while Frohli was left with around ten big blinds.
Jiyang Gan opened to 350,000 on the button and Caleb Furth defended his big blind.
Gan called a 350,000 lead from Furth on the Q?A?J? flop and a 600,000 barrel on the 10? turn.
The A? completed the board and Furth slowed down and checked. Gan cut out a bet of 800,000 and placed it into the middle, which got a fold from Furth after a bit of tanking.
Jiyang Gan opened to 350,000 from the cutoff and Andreas Frohli defended from the big blind.
The flop came 3?10?5?. Frohli moved all in for around 700,000 and Gan called with a covering stack to put Frohli at risk.
Andreas Frohli: J?J?9?8?
Jiyang Gan: A?10?9?5?
The rest of the board ran out 10?2?. Neither player had a low and Gan's full house was good at showdown to send Frohli to the rail in fourth place and take down another sizable pot.
Caleb Furth limped in from the small blind and Jiyang Gan checked from the big blind.
The flop came Q?J?7? and Furth check-called a 160,000 bet from Gan.
Furth check-called another bet from Gan on the 8? turn, this time for 300,000.
On the 10? river Furth led out with a bet of 1,300,000. Gan thought for about a minute before sending his hand into the muck and Furth took the pot without showdown.
Caleb Furth raised to 375,000 on the button and was called by Walter Chambers in the big blind.
Chambers check-called a 225,000 bet from Furth on the K?A?Q? flop and a 700,000 barrel from Furth on the 2? turn.
Both players checked on the K? river and Chambers turned over K?6?2?2? for kings-full. Furth couldn’t beat it and mucked — conceding the pot to Chambers.
Walter Chambers opened to 475,000 from the small blind and Caleb Furth defended from the big blind.
Both players checked the 8?5?3? flop leading to the 5? turn. Chambers bet 650,000 and Furth called.
Chambers bet again for 900,000 on the 6? river. Furth took a minute to weigh his options, counting out the remaining chips that he would have if he called and got scooped. Shortly afterwards he made the call.
Furth tabled A?8?9?9? for an overpair and eight-six low. Chambers showed down A?Q?J?5? for trip fives and the same low to take three quarters of the pot.
