The first draw poker tournament of the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas shuffled up and dealt today, and it proved as popular as ever. Event #22: $1,500 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw attracted 574 mixed game specialists, with 157 of those punching their Day 2 tickets.

Chicago's Bradley Maltz bagged up a tournament-leading stack of 385,000 chips and will fancy his chances of getting his hands on the lion's share of the $766,290 prize pool. Maltz recently cashed in a $1,100 H.O.R.S.E. tournament at the Orleans Hotel & Casino, so came into this event in good form.

Five bracelet winners are among the top ten chip counts. Carol Fuchs (218,500) returns to the action fourth in chips, Nathan Gamble (202,000) is fifth, and five-time WSOP champion Benny Glaser (201,500) occupies sixth place. Tom Franklin (186,000) and Lawrence Brandt (184,500) are seventh and ninth, respectively.

Glaser fell short of capturing his sixth bracelet earlier this week when he fell in sixth place in the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship. The British pro's first bracelet came from this very event back in 2015.

A slew of players selected in the $25K Fantasy Draft will return for Day 2 with top 20 stacks. Alex Livingston (173,000), Michael Noori (166,500), Brian Yoon (164,000), and David "ODB" Baker (161,000) all shone brightly on the opening day's play.

Other notables include the likes of Daniel Idema (137,000), Kevin Gerhart (130,000), Yuval Bronshtein (105,000), David "Bakes" Baker (103,000), and mixed game specialist Adam Friedman (72,500).

Not everyone who entered this tournament was fortunate enough to progress to Day 2. Seasoned pros, including, Robert Campbell, David Bach, Ari Engel, Michael Gathy, Allen Kessler, and John Monnette, all fell by the wayside during Day 1.

Of the returning players, only 87 will receive a min-cash of $3,000. Day 2 begins at 1:00 p.m. local time on June 7 on Level 16, with blinds at 2,000/4,000 and limits of 4,000/8,000. Players will have a much-needed 15-minute break every two levels, and a 60-minute dinner break after Level 21, which will be around 7:30 p.m. local time.

The plan is to play ten hour-long levels, which should see this event get close to its final table. Stay with PokerNews for all the action from Event #22 $1,500 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw and the other live bracelet events throughout the 2024 WSOP.
