Bernhauser, Pecheux Tangle in Big Hand
Action picked up in a hand between Fabian Bernhauser and Erwann Pecheux, and it had plenty of drama.
Bernhauser just bet 100,000 on a board showing Q?Q?10?, and Pecheux, who was to Bernhauser’s immediate left, called.
The 10? showed up on the turn, and Bernhauser downsized his bet to 45,000. Pecheux took a few moments before making the call.
The situation picked up on the river, where the dealer fanned 2?. Bernhauser led out with an 85,000 bet and it sent Pecheux deep in the tank.
How deep? Almost five minutes deep.
The clock was called on Pecheux and the tournament director instructed Pecheux to decide within the 30-second countdown or the hand would be ruled dead.
With less than five seconds to go, Pecheux made the call, only to see the bad news.
Bernhauser immediately tabled Q?8? for queens full of tens, while Pecheux briefly showed K?10? for tens full of queens, which was the inferior full house, before mucking his cards face down.
Bernhauser scooped a large pot and Pecheux was left on fumes with less than 100,000 in his stack.
Pecheux ultimately exited the tournament within minutes of losing to Bernhauser.
