Super Seniors Steal the Spotlight at the 2024 WSOP

Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.

Today sees the start of Event #59: $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold'em here at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

This four-day event gets underway at 10 a.m. local time, with late registration open for eight levels. There will be 20-minute breaks every two levels, with a 75-minute dinner break at the end of Level 6 (~4:40 p.m.). One reentry is permitted in this event.

The starting stack is 20,000 chips, with the plan for Day 1 to play ten 60-minute levels. For the surviving players, Day 2 resumes at 11 a.m. Tuesday and closes after ten more levels. Day 3 follows the same structure, stopping when five players remain, before a winner is crowned on Day 4.

Last year��s event saw a field of 3,121 entries, generating a prize pool of $2,777,690. The winner was Klaus Ilk who defeated Ronald Lane heads up to win $371,603 and his first WSOP bracelet.

After the tournament, Ilk spoke to PokerNews and was asked what it meant to be only Austria��s seventh bracelet winner. �C ��More than I could possibly say. My main aim was to climb the ladder and win more money, so I am not sure if I am awake or asleep!��
