Hart Spikes the Turn to Bust Kortas

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Brent Hart
Brent Hart

Brent Hart was in middle position and three-bet to 7,500. Ghattas Kortas then four-bet to 22,000 under the gun and Hart called.

The flop came 5?6?8? and Kortas bet 12,000. Hart called to the J? turn, where Kortas bet 35,000 leaving himself just one chip behind. Hart moved all in and Kortas put in his last chip.

Hart turned over J?J? for a turned set and Kortas slammed down A?A?. The river was the Q? and Hart secured the pot to send Kortas to the rail.

"What can I do? Some people are just luckier than others," Kortas said.

"If you shove the flop I fold," Hart, who won his first WSOP bracelet earlier this summer, replied.

Anna Antimony had fired out 5,000 from early position and Maury Barrett called on the button. Manuel Ruivo three-bet to 11,500 from the big blind and Antimony moved all in for 54,000. Barrett folded and Ruivo called all in for less.

Bershinsky Picks Up Aces, Punjarojanakul Folds the Winner

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Victor Bershinsky
Victor Bershinsky

Victor Bershinsky raised to 2,500 under the gun before Tanupat Punjarojanakul three-bet to 7,000 in early position. A player in the hijack moved all in for 10,000 and Bershinsky reshoved for around 50,000.

"I have to hope you both have ace-king," Punjarojanakul said as he tanked for a minute before folding two jacks.

All-In Player: 6?6? All in
Victor Bershinsky: A?A?

Punjarojanakul found out he made a good fold as Bershinsky showed down a pair of aces. The board read K?3?Q?5? by the turn, but the river J? would've given Punjarojanakul a set and a double knockout.

"I'm happy with the fold regardless," he said as Bershinsky took the pot to send the hijack to the rail.

"I only waited four hours for something like that," Bershinsky added.

Welco Sends McCullough to Rail

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Long-time Major League Baseball national sports reporter Robert "Andy" McCullough found himself short stacked with a sub-eight big blind stack at the start of Level 8 and moved all in from under the gun.

Craig Welco, who had McCullough covered, called from late position and the hands were tabled after the players in the blinds folded.

Robert McCullough: K?5? All in
Craig Welco: K?K?

McCullough needed a lot of help, but he didnt receive any when the dealer fanned 10?8?A? on the flop.

Welcos dominating hand remained in control when 4? showed up on the turn, and A? on the river officially sent McCullough to the rail.

Steven Jones
Steven Jones

A player in early position raised to 2,600 and picked up three callers, including Steven Jones in middle position.

The flop came 7?7?10? and action checked to the cutoff who bet 8,000. The big blind then moved all in for 8,800 and Jones and the cutoff called.

Both players checked the 6? turn before Jones bet 30,000 on the 8? river. The cutoff quickly folded.

"Ah," Jones said as he slammed down 7?7? for quads. Jones, last year's runner-up, took the pot to send the big blind to the rail.

Joe Cada

On the side feature table, Joe Cada moved all in for 11,100 from early position and was at risk to Eliran Pilo, who was on the button.

Joe Cada: 4?4?All in
Eliran Pilo: K?K?

The A?K?5? flop saw Pilo make a set to leave Cada drawing thin. The 8? turn gave Cada some hope with a flush draw but the 2? river was a brick and Cada exited on Day 2d.

Neal Joins the Big Stacks

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Edwin Neal had written "Edwin Not Lose" on his bag and white slip, after which he had been among dozens of did not report in today's field. He also wears a shirt with that name on the back and did not lose the last all-in showdown.

Neal's 5?4? flopped the nut straight on a board of 7?6?3?Q?7? to earn a full double and join the big stacks.

No longer on his table is William Kassouf, as that seat was open by now.
