Kite Hits the River to Survive
Level 26
: Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Walan Kite moved all in out of the hijack position and a player at the cutoff immediately called to put Kite at risk.
The players on the button and the two blinds folded, and the cards were tabled.
Walan Kite: K?Q?
Opponent: J?J?
“Classic race,” Kite said.
The dealer fanned 4?3?A? on the flop, keeping Kite’s opponent in the lead. A blank hit the turn, and Kite got up out of his seat to pack his belongings, appearing resigned to his exit.
Not so fast, though, as the K? on the river gave Kite a pair of kings and the winning hand.
“Brutal river card,” a player at the table said as Kite retook his seat.
