Maurice Hawkins is Trying to "Dust Off Another Chip Lead"
While there are many familiar faces in the field already, one that stands out in yet another tournament is Maurice Hawkins. He had a mountain of chips in front of him and said, "I ain't in it for the win no more. My wife says I can go ahead and dust off another chip lead."
He currently has almost triple the starting stack in just the second level, but the lead he is referring to is from the "Marathon" a few days ago, where he finished in ninth place for $54,356. Hawkins had a monster chip lead for a good chunk of the final days, but came in to the final table as a short stack. He and Tim Reilly were also going at it for a couple of days, following a massive hand that Reilly won in which Hawkins had flopped top set of aces and turned a full house, but the river brought in a rare royal flush, and Reilly was fortunate enough to be holding the exact two cards to get there and get paid.
Reilly managed to get the best of Hawkins in the end, and finished in fourth place for a nice payday worth $224,316.
