Lakemeier Applying Agression

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 5,000 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo

Jens Lakemeier has taken an agressive strategy of raising almost every pot and betting when given the chance. For the most part, he's met little resistance, but he has been up and down, trading pots with the players at the table. In a recent Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo hand, he took on Andrew Kelsall.

Lakemeier limped from the small blind, and Kelsall checked his big blind.

On the {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop, both players checked to see the {4-Hearts} on the turn. There, Lakemeier bet 39,000, and Kelsall called. The river was the {Q-Hearts}, pairing the board. Lakemeier slowed down with a check. Kelsall took the opportunity to bet 68,000. Lakemeier thought for a minute then plopped out a raise of what looked like 275,000. Kelsall didn't take too long to fold, and Lakemeier took down the pot.

Lakemeier has regained his chip lead in the tournament and is using it to apply a lot of pressure to his opponents.

Big O

Jerry Wong raised to 40,000 and Jens Lakemeier announced pot to 144,000 from the next position. Wong called and the flop came {4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

Wong announced pot and Lakemeier moved all in. The cards were turned over.

Wong: {a-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Clubs}{q-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Lakemeier: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

The turn was the {8-Spades} and the river the {j-Clubs}, meaning Lakemeier scooped with aces up and no low. The start-of-day chip leader now sits on around 900,000 in chips.

Three PLO Pots For Lakemeier

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 5,000 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Hand #1: Jason Stockfish opened from the cutoff to 40,000. Jerry Wong called on the button. Jens Lakemeier was in the small blind and he potted it, making it 186,000 to play. Stockfish folded quickly and Wong thought for a long time before releasing his hand, awarding the pot to Lakemeier.

Hand #2: Lakemeier opened to 38,000 from the button. Ashton Griffin called from the big blind.

On the {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop, Griffin checked to Lakemeier. Lakemeier bet 38,000 and Griffin folded.

Hand #3: Jens Lakemeier opened from under the gun to 38,000. Jerry Wong called from the big blind.

The flop was {Q-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the {Q-Hearts} on the turn. Wong checked to Lakemeier who made it 38,000 and Wong folded.

With those three pots, Lakemeier was effectively able to double up without a showdown.

Andrew Kelsall Hits One Outer; Doubles Up

Five Card Draw

Jens Lakemeier raised to 52,000 and Andrew Kelsall three-bet all in for 155,000. The blinds both folded and Lakemeier called.

Lakemeier drew two.

"That's not good," said Kelsall, deliberating. He eventually drew three.

Lakemeier showed {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Kelsall {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}. Lakemeier couldn't improve on his trip threes, showing {7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

Kelsall peeled each of his cards in turn. "We need paint," he said. "Well that's not paint!" He turned over the {a-Clubs}.

"That's paint," he said after peeling his second card. "We'll put that over there for later."

His last card was the {4-Clubs}, meaning he would need a king to double up. Ashton Griffin said that he folded a king.

"Yesss!" said Kellsall before triumphantly slamming the {k-Clubs} on the table to double up. "I only learnt how to peel cards this year! That was fun!"

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Jerry Wong opened from the cutoff with a raise to 44,000. Next to act was Jens Lakemeier and he moved all in from the button. Andrew Kelsall immediately capped his cards and dropped into the tank from the small blind.

"I couldn't wait for it to get to me," Kelsall said. "My chips were gonna be in there so fast."

"You guys act like my raises mean nothing," Wong said.

"This is the third time this has happened to me," Kelsall said. Eventually Jason Stockfish called the clock and, with 10 seconds left, Kelsall folded.

"Call. Pat." Wong said in immediate succession.

Lakemeier groaned. He looked at his hand and couldn't decide what to do. Eventually he pitched one in.

"Jack-seven?" Ashton Griffin asked. Lakemeier nodded.

"Good break," Wong said. He turned up {10-}{8-}{7-}{6-}{4-}.

Lakemeier was holding {7-}{6-}{5-}{4-} and needed a two, a nine, or a ten to stay alive. He flipped up the last card and revealed a {2-}, securing him a double-up through Wong.

"Nice break," Wong said again. A relieved Lakemeier stacked his new found chips from his double up.

Lakemeier Gets Shorter

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 4,000 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Jerry Wong limped in from the small blind and Jens Lakemeier checked his option from the big blind.

The flop came down {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Spades} and Wong led out for 12,000. Lakemeier called.

On the {3-Spades} turn both players checked to see the {4-Diamonds} on the river. Wong let out for 28,000 and after about 30 seconds Lakemeier called. Wong showed {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} and Lakemeier mucked quicky.
