Benson Doubles Through Shakerchi Before Break

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Gary Benson
Gary Benson

Pot-Limit Omaha

Gary Benson opened from the cutoff with a raise to 28,000. He met resistance in the form of calls from Talal Shakerchi, in the small blind, and Aaron Katz from the big blind.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, and action checked to Benson, who put out a bet of 40,000. Shakerchi then raised to 105,000. Benson re-potted it. Sharkerchi moved all in, and Benson called.

Shakerchi: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Benson: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

Both players had flopped the nut straight, but things got a little interesting with the {3-Clubs} on the turn, giving Shakerchi a flush draw. Unfortunately for him, Benson found a {J-Spades} on the river, giving him a full house. That earned him the double as players headed for break.

"Am I supposed to fold there?" Shakerchi asked.

"Fold? What do you mean fold?" Katz asked. "I'm trying to figure out how to get all the money in there!"

Shakerchi just shook his head and headed for break, as well.
