The Booze Bus
Leicester Square, and thus the Empire Casino, is a little calmer today, and from a biased point of view, I couldn't be happier. Our laptops are perched on the side of the room with the tables just a few yards away, but within that gap is room for the hoards of drunken Friday and Saturday night just-come-out-of-the-pub-so-let's wander-into-the-casino non poker fans to gather. Cue, continual "What are you doing?" and "Is that guy with the cowboy hat famous?" questions, in addition to random people hopping onto my computer while I'm away to check their emails.
And then there's the ghastly journey home on the bus of doom. I can easily handle a few drunks, but when you're exhausted after a long day and just want to get home, listening to people argue about why someone looked at them funny, waiting patiently while bus drivers try to throw ticket dodgers off and shuffling nervously across your seat as the semi-concious guy in the neighbouring seat prepares to vomit into your lap is enough to test anyone's patience.
However, the weekend, and the weekly drinkathon, is almost over, and as previously stated, there's a peaceful, serene atmosphere bobbing around today, so I'm in much better spirits and thoroughly looking forward to some hot poker action, not to mention a quieter journey home. Plus, and please don't tell my better half this, the showgirls provide enough eye candy to maintain an alligator smile on my easily pleased face.
