The unfortunate victim was Jon 'Pearljammer' Turner, and John had re-raised all-in for his tournament life with Jacks, only for Turner to instacall with Kings. Jamie Gold announced that he'd folded K-J, so John was truly under the cosh.
However, that one outer hit the flop, much to the intense dismay of Turner, and John went from strength to strength to reach the position he is currently enjoying.
It just shows you how pivotal one hand can be, not just to your existence in a tournament, but also to your way of life, because if John takes down the one million first prize, it will surely be a life-changing moment.
