Negreanu In Every Pot

Negreanu: Busy Bee
Negreanu: Busy Bee
...Apart from the first one of the new level which was taken by Matt Hawrilenko with a preflop raise.

Daniel Negreanu has been involved nonstop since then, calling preflop raises from Markus Ristola (and then folding on the turn to a 90k bet with the board {A-Spades} {4-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} ) and Chris Bjorin (and then folding on a {6-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {6-Hearts} flop). One hand he did make some chips from big blind Antoine Saout, however, by limping in the small and then betting out 40k on a {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {3-Clubs} flop to win the pot.

Eights Not Lucky for Akenhead

James Akenhead raised in early position and Daniel Negreanu called behind; everyone else folded and they were presented with a {6-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} flop.

Akenhead checked to Negreanu, who bet 100,000. A call, and they now saw a {6-Clubs} turn. Again, Akenhead checked, and now Negreanu bet 162,000. A brief moment of chip riffling from Akenhead before he called.

The river was the {5-Diamonds} and both players checked. Akenhead turned over {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}, but Negreanu had pipped him with {10-Hearts} {9-Hearts} for a pair of nines, and he took the pot.

No Markus-tomers for Ristola

Ristola: Over a Mil
Ristola: Over a Mil
Markus Ristola just increased his stack to the tune of over 250k after two players (Akenhead and Negreanu) called his 63k preflop raise. On the {6-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {A-Spades} flop, however, only Negreanu called Ristola's bet of 130k, and on the {2-Clubs} turn even he declined to pursue the pot any further after Ristola bet out 240k.

Shulman Sweats His Check-raise

Some thought is going into the players' decisions now - and well might they consider, with so much money at stake with a bucket-load of prestige sprinkled on top.

Jason Mercier's early aggression seems to have been used against him now and then, with Barry Shulman the most recent check-raiser of a {6-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} flop, to the tune of 200k. Mercier spent more time than usual considering what to do with this situation, sitting very still and eventually letting his 73k he'd bet on the flop make its way over to Shulman.

Saout Moves In, Negreanu Gets Out

Daniel Negreanu limped in on the button, only for Antoine Saout to raise from the small blind. Negreanu called, and they saw a {10-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} flop.

Saout stared at the felt for a while, looking sleepy and bored, before quietly announcing all in. With a smile and a "Chhh," noise, Negreanu tossed his cards dealerwards, and Saout took the pot.
