Another for America; Hellmuth Gets Aggro On 'Em

Level 3 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

We picked up this hand on the {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop. Team Europe's Max Lykov was first and checked to his opponent, Team America captain Phil Hellmuth. Hellmuth bet 4,000 and Lykov check-raised to 11,000.

"Read that soul, Phil. Read that soul," said Negreanu to his partner.

Hellmuth did just that and reraised to 27,000. Lykov folded and Team America scooped the pot.

The Second Match

Level 2 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Phil Hellmuth has selected Daniel Negreanu and himself for the second match to square off against Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier's selection of Gus Hansen and Max Lykov. The stacks and blinds will reset and in this match, Negreanu will play the same hand against Hansen while Hellmuth will face off against Lykov; two separate heads-up matches, but sharing the same stack.

Team America
Team America

Ben Lamb raised to 15,000 from the button for Team America. Team Europe took a few moments and then called timeout. Jake Cody and Tony G chatted with their teammates on the rail and then came back to the table to announce a reraise all in for 16,000. Team America called.

Team America: {Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Team Europe: {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out clean for Team America and kept their queen high in front to win them the first match.

American Airlines

Level 2 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

During this next level, the two players on each team will switch streets they play, with Ben Lamb starting for Team America and Tony G starting for Team Europe.

On the first hand, Lamb raised from the button to 8,000 and Tony G called to see the {J-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop. Jake Cody was first and bet 9,000. Jason Mercier raised to 22,000. Cody studied and then reraised to an unknown amount. Mercier moved all in and Cody called.

Team America showed pocket aces and was up against Team Europe's {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

The turn and river were both fives and both non-hearts, keeping Team America's aces in front and winning them the hand.

Team America now has a strangle hold on the match with 192,000 in chips to Team Europe's 8,000.
