Just a Jack?

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

"I'm raising every hand! I'm not folding to three-bets!" Phil Hellmuth just said after beating Andrey Gulyy in a pot. Hellmuth has had an amazing day so far, and his stack is right around 300,000.

Hellmuth raised to 4,000 from middle position after which Gulyy three-bet to 10,500. Hellmuth called right away, and the flop brought out {5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}.

Hellmuth checked quickly and Gulyy threw out 8,000. The 12-time WSOP bracelet winner quickly check-raised to 16,000 and Gulyy called.

"They always underestimate me," Hellmuth said before the turn brought out the {10-Hearts}.

"Oh that's so sick. I had him on nines or tens," Hellmuth added, as he quickly checked to Gulyy. The Russian pro checked behind. On the river the {7-Hearts} showed up and Hellmuth casually threw out 9,000. Gulyy called.

"Just a jack," Hellmuth said, but Gulyy waited for him to turn his cards over. Hellmuth showed {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}, and jaws dropped.

"You have a flush!" Kristijonas Andrulis laughed, as did everyone else besides Gulyy.

"Oh shoot! I thought I had queen-jack off" Hellmuth added as Gulyy frustradely mucked his cards.

"What a slowroll!" Andrulis added as Hellmuth apologized for misreading his hand. Gulyy was left behind short while Hellmuth is one of the chip leaders.
