Day 1 of Event #11: €2,200 Pot-Limit Omaha for the 2019 World Series of Poker Europe here at King's Resort started at 4 p.m. with 16 players in the tables but after twelve levels of late registration this number catapulted to 271 smashing last year's numbers by almost 100 entries. The guaranteed prize pool of €200,000 more than doubled, with more than €520,000 being distributed to the player's per the the payout structure of the event.

When the 12 levels of late registration were done, 90 players were left in the tables and only 41 of them would get paid. After the end of the day, there were 46 left, only five away of the money with €3,210 for the min-cash. The winner will receive €128,314 and the coveted WSOP gold bracelet along with honors of winning a very prestigious event of the global tournament circuit.

Anton Morgenstern may have re-entered relatively early in the event as he lost his first bullet in the fifth level of the tournament, however he managed to turn his second entry into a chipleading stack for Day 2, with 726,000. Leonid Yanovski (614,000) and Tomas Ribeiro (461,000) round up the top three spots in the counts, but they won't have an easy job, as there are many well-known and accomplished names in the field such as bracelet winners Sam Higgs (298,000), Christopher Frank (277,000), Dash Dudley (224,000), Daniel Negreanu (108,000), and Jeff Madsen (88,000).

Another bracelet winner that remains in the field is the defending champion Anson Tsang, who won this event last year for his first WSOP gold bracelet and a €91,730 payout. Tsang was among the top spots of the chipcounts for the biggest part of the day, but he lost a couple of pots close to the end and bagged 294,000.

Many well-known players gave it a shot but didn't manage to progress to Day 2. Jeff Lisandro, Shaun Deeb, Robert Campbell, Roger Hairabedian, Manig Loeser, Ismael Bojang, Chris Ferguson, and David "ODB" Baker are among those who departed from the event before the end of Day 1.

The 46 remaining players will return on Wednesday, October 23rd, at 2 p.m. local time here at King's Resort to play down until the final table. The levels for Day 2 and Day 3 will change to 60 minutes and PokerNews will be here again to provide you with all the details until the final table for Day 2, and until a winner is crowned in Day 3.
