Romain Le Dantec Wins Third French Bracelet of the 2021 WSOP Europe in Event #13: 10,000 NLH 6-Max (207,267)

The 2021 World Series of Poker Europe has crowned a new maiden gold bracelet winner as Romain Le Dantec defeated fellow countryman Sonny Franco in heads-up to come out on top of an 73-entry strong field in Event #13: 10,000 NLH 6-Max. Three French players made the final six and another two took home a portion of the 672,695 prize pool as France celebrated the third victory during the ongoing festival at the King's Resort in Rozvadov.

Predominantly a cash game player, Le Dantec only chose to enter the tournament after making a final table earlier in Event #9: 1,100 NLH Bounty Hunter. He collected a cash prize of 17,905 for his 5th place finish and used the winnings to earn his biggest live poker MTT score of 207,267. By doing so, he denied runner-up Franco more WSOP glory as he narrowly missed out on the first WSOP gold bracelet of his own, having already collected three WSOP Circuit gold rings prior.

"I feel good, very good," Le Dantec told PokerNews after his victory. "It's my dream to win a bracelet so to do it in the 10,000 Six Max is unbelievable." Prior to the breakout win, the biggest recorded live cash for the Frenchman was a victory in a Side Event of the 2019 EPT Barcelona festival for 39,700.

"I love tournaments and I love competition," he said. "It was a very good tournament with a lot of top players from all over the world, so I'm very happy to win that," Le Dantec concluded.

The third Frenchman on the final table was arguably the most well-known of the trio as GGPoker ambassador Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier finished in fourth place for 62,574. He came up short of a WSOP gold bracelet two years after collecting his second hardware at the King's Resort during the 2021 WSOPE.

Only one further country was represented on the six-handed final table as Germany's Jakob Miegel, Sirzat Hissou and Christopher Puetz all failed to overcome the French domination during the business end of the tournament.

The short-lived conclusion lasted fewer than three hours and the very first seat open occurred only a few minutes into the live-streamed cards-up coverage on the PokerGO platform. In a battle of short-stacks, Puetz and Miegel got it in with suited aces and it was Miegel who came out on top thanks to his kicker advantage.

Grospellier then doubled through Hissou, who was shortly thereafter reduced to one big blind after colliding with Miegel. His comeback story included a triple and a double-up in quick succession but the third time was no charm for Hissou, who had to settle for fifth place. Grospellier would follow soon after and Miegel found no momentum during three-handed play, which left Le Dantec and Franco to battle for the gold bracelet.

Ultimately, the flopped top pair of Le Dantec prevailed against a flushdraw and gutshot for Franco to conclude the latest 2021 WSOP Europe gold bracelet event. The PokerNews live reporting team will provide exclusive updates for the remainder of the festival until December 8, 2021.

Romain Le Dantec limped the small blind with the {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Sonny Franco checked the option with {j-Clubs}{2-Clubs} in the big blind. Both players checked the {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop and the {9-Hearts} followed on the turn.

Franco now checked once more and Le Dantec bet 225,000. The check-raise to 650,000 by Franco followed and he had some 1.6 million behind. Le Dantec moved all-in for 4,715,000 and Franco called for the 2,230,000 at his disposal.

The {a-Spades} river completed the board, failing to improve Franco and ending his run in 2nd place for 128,096. Le Dantec prevailed to earn his maiden gold bracelet and takes home 207,267 for the efforts.

The {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop was checked by Le Dantec and Franco bet 200,000 into 640,000. Le Dantec check-raised to 570,000 and his timing worked just fine as Franco folded the non-connected queen-high.

Romain Le Dantec: {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Both players filled in their rails on what cards were exposed. "If I open, I have to call," Le Dantec mentioned in French.

The board ran out {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and the French rail celebrated as Miegel was eliminated in 3rd place. With Le Dantec and Sonny Franco separated by just a single chip, the two remaining players went on a ten-minute break.
