British Poker Player John Howard Ships $1,100 NLH Wynn Summer Classic Tournament

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
John Howard
John Howard

The top two finishers in the Wynn Summer Classic's June 4 $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament are from the United Kingdom. John Howard took first place for $58,942, while his fellow countryman, Raul Martinez Gallero, was the runner-up and received $36,385.

The tournament had an impressive field of 238 entrants. With $233,240 in the pot, there wasn't much of a sweat for the Wynn's poker room to hit the $200,000 guarantee. Thus far, the Wynn Summer Classic has been absolutely crushing it in terms of attendance, and this event was no outlier.

Howard beat a tough field that included some talented pros such as Justin Liberto (7th place for $7,557). He didn't just score big at the Wynn. The champ essentially earned his first ever recorded live tournament cash. According to Hendon Mob, his only other previous cash was for $28 back in 2009.

Lyubovetskiy Closes In on the Big Stacks

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Table 38 is playing host to many of the big stacks in the room including Cherish Andrews and Calvin Anderson. The latter was involved in a recent pot where Anderson opened to 100,000 from under the gun. He was called by Andriy Lyubovetskiy on the button and Anthony Basile in the big blind.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and the action checked to Lyubovetskiy who bet 125,000. Basile folded but Anderson called to see the {4-Diamonds} on the turn.

Anderson checked again and Lyubovetskiy dropped in another bet of 400,000. Anderson went into the tank for a couple of minutes but decided to lay his hand down.

Machado Racks up Two More Bounties

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Manuel Machado
Manuel Machado

Action picked up with three players all in before the flop. Sin Chen had moved in from the cutoff, Manuel Machado followed suit on the button, and Frederick Brown went with his hand from the small blind. Machado had all players covered.

Sin Chen: {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}
Frederick Brown: {a-}{k-}
Manuel Machado: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Machado scooped the massive pot like picking up a routine baseball at third base.

"I Pay You!"

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
$250K Bounty Winner Paul Chauderson
$250K Bounty Winner Paul Chauderson

Jose Rodriguez open-shoved for 305,000 and received a call from Paul Chauderson, who just won the remaining $250,000 and has been very lively throughout. Manuel Machado reshoved from the blinds and Chauderson, with 840,000 behind, went in the tank.

After a minute or so, he suddenly jolted from his seat, yelled "Let's do this!" and windmilled his hand onto the felt.

Jose Rodriguez: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Paul Chauderson: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Manuel Machado: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The flop {k-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} was celebrated by both Chauderson and Rodriguez, and both remained in contention after the board ran out {10-Hearts}{2-Spades}.

"I pay you!" Chauderson happily chirped despite losing the main pot.

Buckley Picks Off Hardt's Bluff

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Adrian Buckley opened to 100,000 in middle position and was called by Clay Hardt on the button and Anthony Basile in the small blind. The flop fell {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Spades} and the action checked around to the {a-Hearts} on the turn.

Both Basile and Buckley checked again but Hardt splashed in a bet of 125,000. Basile instantly folded but Buckley hung around for the {4-Hearts} on the river.

Buckley checked once more and Hardt tossed in a bet of 125,000 again. Buckley instantly one-chipped him and Hardt tabled {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for just king-high. Buckley held {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for top pair and raked in the pot.

The board read {6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{7-Spades}. Joseph moved all in on the river for 1,200,000 effective from the big blind.

Ivanovich thought for a bit before eventually making the call for all of his chips.

Ivanovich was the winner of one of the $250,000 mystery bounty prizes. In addition, right after busting out, he pulled a $25,000 prize from the drum.

Chauderson Claims the Last $250,000 Bounty

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Paul Chauderson
Paul Chauderson

Paul Chauderson came into the day with just 253,000 in chips and he is now going to be guaranteed at least that much in bounty prizes. Chauderson walked up to the mystery bounty raffle and pulled only one ticket. The excitement that came from Chauderson afterward was everything you needed to know that the big prize had been won.

Chauderson exploded into shouts as he jumped up and down with the $250,000 mystery bounty prize. Chauderson is currently sitting on stack of 1,025,000 chips with under 60 players remaining. There is still plenty of time for him to add more to his payday throughout the rest of the day.
