PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Berlin Day 4: Davidi Kitai Leads Final Table
Twenty-four players returned to the Hyatt hotel in Berlin Friday afternoon each sharing a common goal; to make it through to the final table of thePokerStars.com European Poker Tour Berlin Main Event. After four-and-a-half 75-minute levels the dream had ended for 16 of those hopefuls, but it is most certainly still alive for the overnight chip leader Davidi Kitai.
Belgian national Kitai will start the fifth and final day of this tournament armed with 5,695,000 chips, over one million more than his nearest rival, but he is experienced enough to know that this event is far from won already. Kitai has won almost $1,800,000 from live poker tournaments helped by winning his first and only World Series of Poker bracelet in 2008 and cashing four times on the EPT. His best result on the long-running tour is a third place finish in Barcelona in 2008.
Kitai went on somewhat of a heater toward the end of the day, first turning trip eights in a pot with Pratyush Buddiga and getting paid off, then shortly afterward waking up with K?K? to stack Jordi Riba Corrons who had moved all in with 5?5?. Kitai flopped a set of kings then turned a full house to send Corrons to the rail in ninth place and to complete the penultimate day's play in Berlin.
Standing between Kitai and that elusive first EPT title are seven players who are all equally as keen to leave the German capital as a champion. Bahadir Kilickeser is closest to Kitai in terms of chips, and Kilickeser will begin the day by unbagging precious ceramic discs worth 4,640,000. Kilickeser must feel on top of the world right now as he and the rest of the field have locked up at least 72,000 for their efforts this week.
Joining these two players are Andrew Chen (3,600,000 chips), Mario Puccini (2,065,000), [Removed:284] (1,940,000), Marc Wright (1,540,000), Cesar Garcia (1,485,000) and Pratyush Buddiga (1,280,000).
The action starts at 1200 CET (0300 PDT) though PokerNews' coverage and the "live" stream will begin one hour later at 1300 CET (0400 PDT) because of the stream being broadcast with full hole-card information. Join us then for all the action, as it happens, from the EPT Berlin Main Event final table!
