GPI Player of the Year: Volpe Regains Lead Over Watson, Raskin Joins Top 10 0001

Mike Watson spent just one week in first place in the Global Poker Index Player of the Year Race, because Paul Volpe has regained the top spot. Volpe finished 27th in the World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Showdown Main Event, earning $16,558, and finished third in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown High Roller, earning $63,187.

Joining the top 10 this week is Micah Raskin, who took down the Berlin Cup High Roller, earning $138,119. It was Raskin's second win of 2013 and his fourth final table appearance. The American won a $5,000 side event at the Aussie Millions, earning $79,177, and made the final table of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25,000 High Roller (eighth for $129,940), and the L.A. Poker Classic $25,000 High Roller (third for $117,140).

Raskin also finished ninth in a $10,000 Six-Max side event at the PCA ($21,340).

Kevin "1SickDisease" Eyster made the biggest leap this week (562 spots to No. 66). Eyster, whose won three gold jerseys in the past two Full Tilt Poker Online Poker Series, won the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown Main Event, earning $660,395. Earlier this year, Eyster finished runner-up in the World Series of Poker Circuit Black Hawk Main Event, earning $85,852.

Also making a big leap this week was Faraz Jaka. The former WPT Player of the Year jumped up 209 spots thanks to a ninth-place finish in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown Main Event ($38,213).

Matt Salsberg, who leads Volpe by 100 points in the WPT Player of the Year race, now sits in 14th in the GPI Player of the Year race. Salsberg also went deep in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown Main Event, finishing 13th for $22,927.
