Global Poker Index: David "Doc" Sands Falls from the Top 10 of the GPI 300
Each week, the Global Poker Index releases a list of the top 300 tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes into account a player's results over six half-year periods. The GPI also ranks the top performers of the year over two six-month periods as calculated by the USA Today Global Poker Index point system.

Daniel Negreanu remains atop the GPI POY race, and there was very little movement within the top 10. Marvin Rettenmaier moves up two spots to No. 7 after reaching the final table of World Poker Tour Caribbean and finishing fourth for $46,800.
Outside of the top 10, Finnish pro Joni Jouhkimainen is making a bit of a run. Jouhkimainen won the Punta Cana Poker Classic High Roller for $43,796, moving up four spots to No. 15.

Like the POY race, the top 10 of the GPI 300 shows little change. David Peters, Jonathan Duhamel, and Jason Mercier all climbed up one spot, while Bryn Kenney dropped down one spot to No. 7.
David "Doc" Sands plummeted out of the top 10, falling nine spots to No. 18. Sands recorded his only two million-dollar scores in 2013, finishing runner-up in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $100,000 Super High Roller for $1,259,320 and winning the $100,000 super high roller held at the WPT World Championship for $1,023,750.

David Diaz and Stephen Bokor both reenter the Top 300 thanks to deep runs in the WPT Jacksonville bestbet Fall Poker Scramble. Diaz finished ninth, pocketing $23,734, while Bokor busted in 24th, collecting $9,494.
Mihai Manole rocketed all the up to No. 177 after finishing fourth in a Caribbean Poker Tour event in St. Maarten for $22,000 and 14th in WPT Caribbean for $8,600.

Nicolau Villa-Lobos, who finished runner-up to Negreanu in the World Series of Poker Europe High Roller, made the biggest jump this week. The Brazilian moved up 52 spots to No. 146 after cashing twice on the Latin American Poker Tour.
Jared Jaffee won WPT Jacksonville bestbet Fall Poker Scramble, banking $252,749 and pushing him into the 100. The Brooklyn, New York native currently ranks No. 99 in the world.

Gavin Smith dropped 99 places to No. 282 this week, and is in danger of dropping out of the Top 300 entirely. The Canadian only has $84,223 in earnings in 2013.
