Sixth Annual Chicago Poker Classic to Run April 29-May 12 at Horseshoe Hammond
From April 29 through May 12, 2014, Horseshoe Hammond will play host to the Sixth Annual Chicago Poker Classic, which will feature more than $2.5 million in guarantees and $250,000 in added prizes.
The series will feature ten official events, including a $350 buy-in $1,000,000 guaranteed opener, which is expected to surpass last years 5,165-entry field (Craig Casino won that event for $169,000). Whats more, that event will award $5,000 cash to double qualifiers (meaning those who play more than once during the eight starting flights and advance from multiple flights) and a $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event seat to the player who surrenders the most chips after double qualifying. Additionally, the players with the second and third most surrendered chips pocket an additional $5,000.
The $1,500 Main Event, which begins on Friday, May 9, will also offer a $1,000,000 guarantee prize pool. The championship features two starting flights beginning at 12 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The winner of that tournament will also receive a $10,000 WSOP Main Event seat. Last years Main Event champion, Blake Bohn, earned over $288,000 for his performance.
Finally, Event #9 $250 No-Limit Holdem Re-Entry, will feature a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool and offer five starting flights. This time around, the cash bonus for double qualifiers is $3,500. Just like the opener, the double qualifier who surrenders the most chips earns a $10,000 WSOP Main Event seat while the players who surrender the second and third most earn $5,000 cash. In addition, the winner will be awarded a 2014 Chrysler 300S ($30,000 value).
