Estrellas Poker Tour

If you have been waiting to know whether you could book yourself a nice trip to sunny Spain and combine your holidays with some good poker, then you have been served. PokerStars has just announced the stops for Season 6 of the Estrellas Poker Tour (ESPT), Spains most popular live poker series.

After it made history with the massive event organized in Barcelona during Season 5, which attracted the impressive number of 2,560 participants for a 2,483,200 prize pool, the ESPT gets ready to come back for a new, eventful season five years after its inception in 2010. Season 6 of the ESPT, however, is going concentrate the action in a smaller number of events than in the previous years, as PokerStars has decided to include only three stops in the 2015 edition of its Spanish poker series.

The sixth season of the ESPT will kick off in at the Gran Casino Madrid in Madrid, where players will battle in the 1,100 Main Event and a number of side events between March 9-15.

After that, the tournament will move to Marbella for the PokerStars Marbella Festival, an event running from June 11-21. Given the success of its 2014 edition, the Marbella Festival will again see the ESPT join forces with the United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) for 10 days of poker and parties.

Although the festival's calendar has not been officially released yet, PokerStars has already explained that it will include an high roller event, nightly turbo tournaments, and live satellites to win a seat to the 1,100 Main Event that in 2014 attracted 750 players from all over Europe.

As expected, the 2015 ESPT Grand Final will again take place at Casino Barcelona in Barcelona, and it will likely be part of the first European Poker Tour (EPT) stop once again for the next EPT season. The event, which is set to run from August 19-24, will try to replicate the impressive success it had in 2014, when more than 2,500 players showed up to make it one of the most remarkable poker tournaments of the year in Europe.

Furthermore, Season 6 of the ESPT will also see the beginning of a new partnership between PokerStars' Spanish poker series and the Global Poker Index (GPI), which will run two separate leaderboards one dedicated to events with a buy-in of under $600 and one for buy-ins $600 or over.

"We are delighted to extend its reach to the Spanish market through this new collaboration with the ESPT," the CEO of the GPI Alex Dreyfus said. "This relationship has a common goal, to keep promoting poker as a sport."
