2015 Seneca Fall Poker Classic $50,000 Guarantee: Two More Flights in the Books
Two more starting flights wrapped up on Tuesday in the $50,000 Guaranteed $100 No-Limit Hold'em event from the 2015 Seneca Fall Poker Classic. After the combined flights of Day 1a and Day 1b attracted 150 total entries on Monday, another 153 entries were added on Tuesday to bring the total field size to 303 heading into the final two flights on Wednesday.
Wednesday will see Day 1e and Day 1f complete the pack of starting days, and you can follow live coverage via PokerNews by clicking here.
After Tuesday's Day 1c, 11 players made it through from the 63 entries. Mark Roberts grabbed the chip lead after he four-flushed his opponents in a huge three-way all-in pot, before getting the better of John Stempien to crest the 100,000-chip mark. In the end, he bagged 147,000.
But, it was Canadian Warren Hart who bagged the Day 1c lead, playing in his second-ever tournament after the first ended with a 15th-place finish in Event #1 here. He ran hot both early and late to bag 161,000.
Kevork Garabedian was the only other player past the six-figure mark on Day 1c, but Michelle Caldwell bagged close to it with 98,300.
On Day 1d, which took place later in the day, 17 players advanced from the 90 entries that participated.
Top local tourney grinder Pat Tighe grabbed the chip lead on Day 1d when he called a five-bet shove from early leader Scott Treutlein on pocket tens. Tighe had aces, the aces held, and he continued running like a god through the end of 14 levels, busting what seemed like half the remaining field on the way to bagging 238,300 and taking hold of the overall chip lead heading into Day 2.
Dmitri Novik was the only other player past the six-figure mark, although local heroes including Nick Zinter, Cameron Bartolotta, and Jerry Calvaneso bagged close.
All told, 57 players advanced to Day 2 from the first four starting flights with plenty more to come after Wednesday's action is complete.
