When the PokerNews Cup ran last at Kings Casino in November 2015, 820 players bought into the 200,000 guaranteed Main Event. Only 16 of those players we still in contention for the title when the tournament progressed to Day 3, and three hours later Daniel Can was crowned champion.
The reason for the speedy final day was that the nine players who reached the final table decided to split the remaining prize money between them. Each of the nine finalists walked away with between 9,814 and 17,105 for their efforts, with Can taking the largest prize and the coveted PokerNews Cup trophy.
