Playground Poker Club Kicks Off Fall Classic with The Wild $150
The 2016 Playground Poker Club Fall Classic kicked off Sunday with the first two starting flights of Event #1: The Wild $150. Running from Oct. 30 through Nov. 18, the annual festival at Playground features 17 events, boasting guaranteed prize pools worth $3,500,000.
The Wild $150 structure is always well received at Playground, as it gives players the chance to win big money for a small buy-in. This year��s event has a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000, with four chances to qualify.
Players got their first chance to make Day 2 on Sunday, with Day 1a and Day 1b on the schedule. Day 1a kicked off at 11 a.m. local time in Kahnawake, Quebec, the home of Playground Poker Club. A whopping 315 hopefuls took a seat in the first flight, which is usually the number you would see in one of the final flights.
After 14 levels of play on Day 1a, just 75 players survived. Leading the way was Leng Khauv, bagging 277,000 to end the night. Following close behind was Allan Puzantian with 252,500. Adam Cader (198,500), Paul Mohorea (195,500) and Pinto S (170,500), who round out the top five stacks.
Day 1b would receive slightly less attendance but still gathered an impressive 249 runners for a 7 p.m. Sunday evening session. Another 55 players would advance to Day 2 after the dust settled. Bagging the Day 1b chip lead was Jean Francois Jodoin, sealing 227,000 for Day 2. Jodoin grabbed the lead by just a couple chips as Sacha Fontaine ended play with 224,000. Other big stacks include Francois Graton-Valiquette (220,000), Karim-Olivier Kamal (205,000) and Jonathan Poissant (186,500).
Anybody who wasn��t able to qualify for Day 2 will have two more opportunities to build a stack. Day 1c will get underway at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31, with Day 1d on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. as well.
