Dan Wagner Leads the Final Nine at the 2016 Seneca Fall Poker Classic Main Event
The 2016 Seneca Fall Poker Classic Main Event final table is set, with local standout Dan Wagner holding a massive chip lead heading into Monday's fight for the title at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino.
After two starting flights drew 300 entries, 57 players returned to play Sunday with their eyes on the money and payouts starting at 27th place.
Jefferey Hobrecker came in with a slight lead over fellow local star Alex Visbisky, but neither got too much going today. Hobrecker managed to make the money, but a bad run for Visbisky actually saw him go out on the bubble, calling off a river check-raise from Wagner, only to be shown quads.
For most of the day, young Veerab Zarkanian was the man to beat, becoming the first player over the two-million chip mark and the overwhelming leader, until things started going south at the final two tables.
Zarkanian held on to a spot in the final nine with a healthy stack, but got his aces cracked in the final hand of the night that ultimately sent Joseph [Removed:340] out 10th and vaulted Mark Allott into second in chips behind Wagner.
Wagner's lead only got bigger when he made quads again, this time sending David Olshan to the rail in 11th, and entering the final 10, and ultimately the final nine, as the only player over two million in chips.
Jay Clark got short before the bubble, but turned things around to book a seat at the final table with a more than decent stack and Cameron Bartollota came into the day in the bottom half of the counts, but stuck to a solid game plan to make it there as well.
Nicholas Potwora flirted with the lead for a while himself, making at least one great call and another incredible laydown late to ensure he had a healthy stack coming into play Monday. The rest of the final table includes poker hobbyist Brian Bowen, Maryland's Sean Gomez and the colorful Peter Bogulski.
Play will resume at 12 p.m. local time Monday with the levels increasing to 60 minutes in length and a whole lot up for grabs. Not only will the winner earn $64,882 in prize money, but Seneca Niagara poker glory and a spot on the cover of CardPlayer Magazine as well. Plus, the top six finishers will all earn five-figure prizes.
