Fantasy Golf: Top DraftKings Picks for the WGC-Mexico Championship
The world's best golfers head to Mexico City this week for the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship. This event was hosted by Trump National Doral in Florida for 55 years, but the WGC announced last June that it would be moving the tournament to Mexico (to the dismay of Donald Trump).
Club de Golf Chapultepec will host this year's event for the first time. The Par-71 course plays 7,330 yards, but it's important to note that the course is elevated more than a mile above sea level, so the ball will fly farther than usual due to lesser wind resistance. The course will play much shorter than it appears on paper.
Nine of the top 10 players in the world will participate this week, making this the toughest field we've seen on tour this season. That, combined with the lack of course history on an unfamiliar course, makes it a very interesting week build building your fantasy lineups on DraftKings.
We're changing things up with our preview this week. We will let fantasy golf expert Brad Messersmith of The Fantasy Degenerates and The Fantasy Fanatics break down his projections model on DraftKings for the WGC Mexico Championship. Messersmith looks at the key stats and metrics he uses to create his model, as well as the recent form and ownership projections for some of the top golfers in the field.
