Fred Wise Wins the Latest DTD200 Event
Fred Wise secured his largest live poker tournament score at the weekend when he triumphed in the latest edition of the 100,000 guaranteed DTD200 event at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham.
Wise topped a field of 428 entrants to get his hands on the 21,100 first place prize, which included a tournament ticket worth 1,100. Previously, Wises largest cash weighed in at 7,700, his reward for finishing third in a 550 buy-in tournament at Dusk Till Dawn in September 2014.

There were 108 players who made it through to Day 2, the final day, of the DTD200 last weekend and only 47 of those received any prize money for their efforts. Dusk Till Dawn regulars such as Basharat Mahmood, Guy Taylor, Jack Allen, Mark McCluskey, Dave Quince and Alan Picken all bust before the money place although Pickens elimination was the most painful. It was his exit that burst the money bubble when his jacks lost to the suited ace-queen of Anthony Kennedy.
Pickens bust out locked up a 400 payday for those players with chips in front of them, an amount that increased to 3,150 by the time the final table was reached.
DTD200 Final Table Seat Draw
Seat | Player | Chips |
---|---|---|
1 | Karen Arthur | 1,306,000 |
2 | Daryl Haney | 668,000 |
3 | Khadam Hussain | 1,180,000 |
4 | Nicholas Banks | 1,595,000 |
5 | Martyn Frey | 498,000 |
6 | Anthony Shelton | 891,000 |
7 | Denis Ford | 699,000 |
8 | Steven Watkins | 2,530,000 |
9 | Fred Wise | 3,231,000 |
Khadam Hussain was the first player to fall at the final table. He was joined at the cashiers cage by Daryl Haney after Haneys ace-three couldnt get there against Wises dominating ace-king.
Seventh place went to Anthony Shelton when he moved all in with ace-king of hearts. Wise called with a pair of red queens. The five community cards displayed no aces or kings and Sheltons tournament ended.
Wise then sent Steven Watkins to the rail when the latter jammed all in for his last five big blinds with the lowly jack-seven and Wise looked him up with ace-nine. Ace-high won the pot for Wise and the tournament was down to five players.
Those five became four with the elimination of Martyn Frey. Frey committed his last eight big blinds with seven-six and Denis Ford put Frey at risk by calling with ace-king of diamonds. Frey picked up an open-ended straight draw on the flop, but couldnt catch any of his outs on the turn or the river.
Karen Arthurs impressive run ended in a fourth-place finish; Nicholas Banks ultimately confirmed Arthurs demise.
Heads up was set when a raising war on a 10?3?8? flop between Banks and Ford resulted in Banks being all in with 10?9? and Ford holding Q?9?. Ford improved to a flush with the arrival of the 7? on the turn, which rendered the 5? river meaningless.
Winning Banks chips gifted Ford a 7,030,000 to 5,690,000 chip lead over Wise and the gap grew wider after the final duo contested a huge pot preflop that went Fords way.
Wise then soared into the lead when Ford moved all in for almost 4.3 million chips on a K?7?2?3?6? board with slightly more than one million chips in the pot. Wise made the call with Q?2? and was right to do so because Ford mucked his hand.
The final hand saw Wise limp in from the button for 400,000 with A?5?, Ford raised to 1.4 million with 7?6?, Wise moved all in and Ford called. Wise extended his lead on the K?A?9? flop and locked up the hand on the 2? turn. The K? river completed the community cards, sent Ford home in second place and left Wise to revel in becoming a DTD200 champion.
