Final Day Action

Eleven players out of a 48-entry strong field returned for the final day, all aiming to take home a portion of the 4,656,000 prize pool.

Only the top six spots were paid and Koray Aldemir started out as the shortest stack with just nine big blinds. Fellow German High Roller regular Dominik Nitsche was first to go as he lost a flip with sevens against the ace-jack of team partypoker's Jason Koon. Aldemir was the second player to bust, setting up the unofficial nine-handed final table.

Mikita Badziakouski ran ace-king into the pocket aces of Bryn Kenney and fell in 9th place, followed by German Steffen Sontheimer who lost a flip with ace-king against the pocket tens of Stephen Chidwick. Two tens on the flop gave Chidwick quads to immediately lock up the hand.

On the money bubble, it was Keith Tilston that had to leave empty-handed. Tilston raised out of the small blind with pocket sixes and called the shove of Koon who turned over king-seven. A seven appeared on the turn and that locked up the min-cash of 240,000 for the remaining six players while Tilston departed.

One player to be particularly happy with the outcome of that hand was short-stacked Erik Seidel. He bowed out in 6th place when his ace-five suited ended up second-best to the ace-ten of Chidwick. Bryn Kenney followed soon after in another "death by quads" situation when he got it in with an open-ended straight draw against the middle set of Schindler. The latter spiked the case six on the turn to reduce the field to four.

Chidwick took care of the next two seats open, first winning with sixes against the pocket treys of Jason Koon, then finishing off the work of Schindler with king-ten suited against Jean-Noel Thorel's queen-eight.

A two-hour battle with a seven-figure score guaranteed followed. Eventually, with blinds of 175,000 and 350,000, Schindler raised to 875,000 and Chidwick called. On the A?4?2? flop, Chidwick check-called a bet of 500,000 and check-raised the 5? turn from 1.8 million to 5.1 million. Schindler just called, and the 7? hit the river. Chidwick moved all in, and Schindler eventually called to see his opponent turn over Q?6? for a bluff gone wrong, while Schindler had A?3? for the straight.

Chidwick had to settle for 1,100,000 while Schindler was the one posing for the winner shots.
