Reset at Ciutadella Park

Parc de la Ciutadella
Parc de la Ciutadella

For several decades since its construction in the 19th century, Ciutadella Park was the only park and green space in Barcelona. While plenty of parks have been built in the city since then, Ciutadella Park remains one of the best places in the city to reconnect with nature.

The first thing visitors will notice in the historic park is the Gaudi Fountain, a towering structure topped with gold-painted horses and equipped with a flowing waterfall.

Ciutadella Park is a perfect place to take a nap, enjoy street performances, people-watch, have a picnic, admire sculptures or feed Barcelona's famous Monk parakeets, which will eagerly eat out of the hands of anyone holding nutritious snacks. Best of all, it's right across the street from Casino Barcelona.

Death is a heavy subject matter that has inspired some of the most poignant art pieces in history. A prime example of this is The Kiss of Death, a marble statue constructed in 1930 by Jaume Barba, though some believe his nephew, Joan Fontbernat, may have designed it.

The magnificent statue of a towering winged skeleton delivering the kiss of death is on display in the Poblenou Cemetery, just a few miles down the street from Casino Barcelona.
